Cowboys assistant coaches with expiring contracts told to seek work elsewhere

I'm starting to think Garrett will be the new coach. Throw everyone else under the bus, maybe that will keep the fans on board.

If Garrett stays as HC, I'll treat this team like every other team - watch on occasion. No more scheduling my time around the Cowboys game, if I happen to be home when they play, maybe I'll watch a bit. I'm done.
Well then, you might wanna start rethinking your calendar then...nobody says "yes" quite like JG...which is "perfect" for JJ!

Is the ST Coach not getting the axe SERIOUSLY!?!?
:banghead:

I don’t think you could find anyone to bet you that he’ll still be in position for next year’s team.
I’m certainly not worried about that happening.

Not sure why you think that exactly... Do tell?
When does all this "so called talent" / players become accountable exactly? I mean the players play the game, so aren't they primarily accountable with the lack of cohesiveness and consistency? The coaches can coach, but they're not the ones playing? Drafting a collective group that can play well together, and do it consistently isn't solely based on a lack of coaching...is it? I don't think they having a controlling say as to the players that end up on this roster, that's for our "all knowing HOF owner", isn't it?

Per the videos on NFL.com under these two stories, Jason Garrett has told his assistant coaches with expiring contracts to look for work elsewhere.

Here is a list of coaches with expiring contracts:
  • Rod Marinelli (DC)
  • Kris Richard (DB's)
  • Ben Bloom (LB's)
  • Leon Lett (DL)
  • Gary Brown (RB's)
  • Doug Nussmeier (TE's)
  • Greg Jackson (Safeties)
And of course, Jason Garrett's contract is expiring, but apparently he has not yet been told to seek work elsewhere.

I suspect Jerry is going to use Garrett to finish up meetings with players and staff before cutting him loose. It's hard to imagine Jason Garrett telling his assistants to hit the road, if he thinks he's coming back.

EDIT: Updated list of coaches with expiring contracts

Alternative theory........Jerry's about to set his boy up with a new staff!

I hope you are being sarcastic.
Not at all actually... Sorry you feel that way... Coaches coach, and players must play/perform... Coaches can only coach and be solid leaders, but can't play... Coach Rod was a coach of mine, and a "top shelf" coach from every angle... Richards is also a very good coach as well... Again, the players play, and once coached are accountable for their collective cohesiveness and consistency as a unit.

I want every last one of them gone. Kitna and Moore too. No leftovers

That is what I am going to predict now ! The Process is NOT OVER! LOL . It is just continuing for another decade!
Jerry wants to keep JG, and in his eyes Jason did not fail, it was the other coaches that failed him, so just hire new coaches starting with those that
contract is expiring, extend JG and replace other coaches as contracts expire. If they fire coaches with contract, that would cost Jones boys extra cash,
and they cant handle that so they go the cheap route and let them go when contracts expire.

If Jason was going to be let go, he would need to be available now for interviews, but he isnt , and is not seeking a job elsewhere, because he already
knows he still has a job here. That is why he was so upbeat at the PC, because Jerry already told him he still has the HC job here.
If it was going to happen, it would have happened today folks, it did not so here we are.:banghead:

It is sad, people are dreaming of a new staff, and new HC, big changes etc, and the PROCESS is not over yet it will continue onward ! :lmao2::clap::clap::clap::clap::flagwave::starspin::starspin::starspin::starspin::starspin:
Heck I will give it the Gorico gold star Platinum Guarantee ! that Jason remains as HC.

Fer sure, since we can't get rid of the "REAL" issue here, may as well dump everyone else to make us feel better about being 8 & 8 again next year...right?

Not going to happen, if that was going to happen, it would have been today. You dont see other teams waiting to fire their HC's do you?
This is Cowboys, the circus !! Run by the hillbilly Jones family, they do things the insane way, but it is their way, they have all the money and power,
they just dont know how to use that properly.

When was the last time a coach didn't get to choose all his coordinators?

Jerry et al must be letting the next guy decide the future of the coordinators.
Only in Dallas baby...only in Dallas! Jerry "Al Davis" Jonz, without the football savy AD did have in the first part of his career!

obviously new HC hopefully fills these spots.
just for fun...names to consider...maybe

DBs....Ray Horton...fmr Cowboy...was DC for Az Cardinals and Cleveland Browns...very physical...blitz happy type defenses.

DL....Tosh Lupoi....Browns DL coach but spent most of his time at Alabama under Nick Saban....coached ALOT of NFL 1st Rounders and 2nd Rounders....and 3rd Rounders.

DC....Charlie Strong....long time asst for some guy named Urban Meyer....young...solid coach....could relate to players.

Steve Wilkes.....Browns DC on Kitchens staff...fmr HC Az Cardinals....good coach....long time NFL asst....defenses are usually pretty solid under his direction.

Jack Del Rio would be my first thought and Steve Wikes my 2nd as DC's..
Both those guys are familiar with the 4-3 scheme and i don't see a change
that could take an additional couple of years for the current guys to have to learn and adjust.
i'd like to have these already to prepare to hit the ground running in an already familar scheme.

Would have liked to have had Gregg Williams but he'll still be with the Jets at this time.
Del Rio....like that.

I'm thinking we shouldn't overlook the "Homer Simpson" fit here in DC, considering the possible chemistry n all? Just not certain about his ability to say "YES JJ...YES"? Nevertheless...could be a stellar fit! With Kitchens as the OC...hey now!
