Cowboys best option: sign Braylon Edwards

I think Jerry Jones has been in negotiations with several different agents of late and I'm positive he's got a promise with someone who falls into our cap easier than Houshmanzada. I don't believe Edwards will go to the Giants or Philly as rumored. He's a great #2 and a Williams, Witten and Edwards trio would be hard to scheme against.

From one leads the leagues in drops to another...sounds like something that Jerry would do.

Hmmm.Wade likes him.

Cowboys coach Wade Phillips is a believer. He called Edwards one of the top five receivers in the league, along with Owens, and said the Cowboys will double-team him as often as possible.

“Braylon is certainly a big-play guy, an outstanding receiver and we’ll have our hands full against him,” he said.

I am sure both Brady and DA would thank us for taking Edwards considering how many balls he dropped for both of them.

I def wouldn't buy that. Look at BB in NE, guy talks about every team whether they have the worst record in the league or the best record like they're the greatest team ever. What do you expect him to say "Edwards drops as many balls as TO so we'll just let him run free and take our chances"?

Edwards would cost us a pretty high draft pick. I don't think that's a realistic option.

Marvin Harrison as a 1 year fix might be an option. Same for Tory Holt if the Rams release him. Did Jerry Porter or Ron Curry sign with anyone? There is no one currently out there that will replace TO the talent but they could bring in a veteran. The may also be hoping that Austin can stay healthy all year and live up to the potential he has shown.

Holt can pretty nearly replace TOs talent at this stage in their respective careers. Plus he's a better fit in the WR position group than Owens was. I don't mind standing pat with Austin, but I could live with a low mid-round pick for Tory Holt.

Before posting this I thought Edwards was a FA.:(

Do you think they would do it for a 2nd and a 3rd?
Or do you think there might be a good WR in the 2nd round that we could grab and mold into a # 2 guy by mid-season? Outside of Williams now the Cowboys have no other WR that worries any coach.

I think Austin CAN if he comes back playing like he was.

I think Austin is excellent on special teams, but as a receiver he seems more like a #3. However, chemistry does go a long way and you can tell that Romo trusts Austin. If he plays all next year like he did at his best last year, then he would make a great #2.

I know Holt has said that, for instance, if he came to CAROLINA he knows his role is number 2. Great attitude, and locker room guy.

Not sure about that since it was rumored/reported that Holt gave up during several of the games last year and complained openly as well as mentioned not returning. Doesn't sound like a great attitude to me even if your team is horrible.

And a big NO to Braylon. He maybe talented, but just has no hands whatsoever. Not worth the moola or draft picks it would take to get him.

Edwards drops way too many balls to be giving up any high draft picks, or big money, for him.
