Cowboys biggest needs for next year

Are there any stand out RBs coming out of next year's draft? If Dallas is picking in the mid to late 20s, that's a pretty good position for a RB. Also a good position for a stand out Center if one is there.

I'd love a DT, I just don't think the odds are great at getting an impact player that late in the first.

95% of the time I am against drafting a RB anywhere in the first round. I just think next year might not be a bad idea if the conditions are right.

I think it Bijan Robinson is there in the 20s you jump all over it and don’t look back.

It's a strong rb class.

Bijon is a stud and a steal in the 20s.

Gibbs, tucker, bigsby are all really good backs too. I think the rb class is pretty good this year so even if you don't take bijon or he's gone before your pick, good options to reload at rb. A free agent like mostert foreman Jamaal Williams or hunt with day 2 or early day 3 rb would be my hope.

I agree. I think the Cowboys are in a reasonable position to be able to take a RB like Bijon in the first if he falls to us. I actually like Gibbs too really late in the first round.

Like I said, I think we're in a unique, or rare position to be able to draft a RB in the first if he's there.

There are a bunch of RB’s that seem to have a 1/2 grade that could foreseeable fall to Dallas’ 2nd round pick. Looking at the backs succeeding in the league 2nd round seems the sweet spot.

In no particular order:

Running Back - Pollard is in the last year of his contract, and Zeke has been fading for a while. A new fresh top RB prospect needs to be added to the team.

Offensive Line - both Center and Left Guard are issues. But if Tyron Smith comes back, you can shift Tyler Smith to Left Guard. But a more powerful center is needed to open holes in the run game.

Tight End - paying Dalton Schultz a top tier contract for middle level performance is not a good use of resources. The Cowboys are going to need those resources to sign Defensive players, such as Diggs and Wilson. So drafting a new starting Tight End is a need. Ferguson and/or Hendershot are serviceable journeyman type players, but a Star Tight End could be an asset.

Defensive Tackle - unless run defense improves dramatically, the Cowboys still need to improve their interior line defense.
I don't want to draft for need.

Teams never regret drafting great players regardless of position.

With regards to the draft and free agency, they have to assume that Tyron is not an option to play in 2023.
- I think they'll cut him in March, but even if they keep him, it should not impact what they do in the draft.

TE Michael Mayer would be a great pick regardless of what other players are on the roster.

It would be fun to draft a dominant DT.

An uber powerful interior OL, especially an OC would be great. Maybe an OT than can play inside.

A RB at some point in the draft.

WR if a good one is available.

A LB in the 2nd or 3rd.

They need a development QB.

Yea, just don’t draft a RB in round 1…awful draft strategy.

Round 2 is even a little rich for me unless it’s an absolute stud that is BPA.

I’d look round 3/4.

I’d look round 3/4.

For me:
  • Top 15 pick is simply out of the question.
  • Late first would want to be a generational talent
  • 2nd round should be expected to be a feature back day 1
  • 3rd-4th is expected to develop into a good starter

Seems fair, but I’d probably just avoid all together in round 1.

With a solid OL I think a 3//4th rounder could start for us. 2nd rounder would just have to be a blinking light stud that is BPA by a mile.

I like the young TEs but if TE Michael Mayer is a available at the Cowboys pick I would be all in to draft him. I'll bet significant money that he becomes a top 5 TE. He is Jason Witten with quicker feet. Complete TE type as elite receiver and quality blocker.

This!

An Adrian Peterson type RB would be worth it with a late first for any team any year.

If they Franchise Pollard and cut Zeke, then a mid round pick.makes sense.

If Pollard departs, then a RB late 1st would allow them to cut Zeke and his 10.9M salary.

You left out CB. It's a HUGE need.

OG - this season has highlighted how important good OL play is. My draft motto is fix the trenches., so adding a powerful OG to pair with Tyler Smith (LT) or even backup an aging Zack Martin is welcomed.

NT - Hankins will be an UFA, and trading for him at the deadline shows it's an important position. Draft a guy early to pair with Big Bo to simply eat up double teams.

DE - DQ is excellent at finding good pass rushers. DLaw is aging, Fowler is UFA, DA will have 1 year left on his deal, I believe. Keep that Nascar group top tier.

TE - Finding a good all around TE would be awesome for the run n pass game. I like keeping 4 TEs because their so versatile.

I'm all for filling these grown man positions before skill positions that late round or UDFAs can develop into. Also, at RB I feel the UFAs this off-season will be very appealing to a team like Dallas.

Starting caliber cornerback.

Man losing JLew has hurt big time. It’s almost like AB has played worse since he got hurt. I’ve always though AB was average which is fine but I’m ready to try and find a more competent #2 as well. Bland might be ok as a 3rd / 4th but those 3rd rounders we drafted are backups.

I’d put DT and LBr higher as our run D is a bigger issue but if a stud CB falls in the 1st i’m down.

CB's are so hit or miss I'd entertain signing a proven FA if one becomes available.
Our young TE's seem to be progressing nicely: If Schultz doesn't sign a reasonable deal, draft another mid-rounder.
DT and O'Line are biggest areas of need through the draft. Another good running back won't hurt either, although I like what I'm seeing out of Davis.

I really want that DT that can blow up the middle of the line. I want teams to have to drop back and pass because they can't run.
