The only first round pick we still have before 2020 is Zach Martin drafted in 2014.

2015 - Byron Jones
2016 - Zeke
2017 - Taco
2018 - LVE
2019 - traded for Cooper

Our first rounders currently on the roster:

2014 - Zach Martin
2020 - CeeDee
2021 - Micah
2022 - Tyler Smith
2023 - Mazi

2nd round is similar, only one we have left prior to 2020 is DLaw from 2014

Our 2nd rounders remaining:

2014 - DLaw
2020 - Diggs
2022 - Sam Williams
2023 - Schoonmaker

One aging starter, only younger high end starter, 2 rotational/backups.

No choice right now. No cap space and no desire to participate in free agency.

Go Cowboys?

Relying primarily on the draft is going to bite us because it’s not as great as the hype. We aren’t having the long term success with guys like we had with Tyron, Zach and DLaw.

Our talent is dwindling and not being replenished at the same level through the draft or supplemented though FA.

The 2023 draft was an absolute failure for the Cowboy brain trust! JJ and his boys pretty much crap all over the place with the horrible players they drafted.

Every team builds through the draft....

But, what does every team do that wins superbowls or makes deep runs into the playoffs? Be aggressive in FA or trades as well to pick up key positions of need

Every team doesn't win Super Bowls. One third of the league has never won 1.

They have stability. They have a plan and they stick to it. That usually requires a competent GM.

We normally are a fairly competent team when it comes to drafting, however last year was a disaster. Hopefully they will refocus and hit on our first 3 pics. After that, with only comp pics and a 90 position gap from our 3rd to our comp. 5th it will be slim pickings.
They have shot themselves in the foot.
Little Stephen always talks about not spending in F.A. But it's not about that, it's about acquiring talent to offset what you draft. Scaping the barrel is not acquiring talent - and that's the difference in good teams like the Ravens and us.

Yeah they are building all right, building a losing playoff record

:lmao2:

Stability. Uhm, yes... stability. Cudos to them I guess... everything's very stable around the middle of the table.

If that's true then where are all the draftees? Gone gone gone.
