In the 7 playoff team/17 game seasons you have to clinch way later

So back before they had wild cards, teams were clinching division championship playoff spots by week 10-11 (14 game schedules meant no time to catch up).

1973 Vikings won their division in week 9. They were 9-0, second best team had 6 losses/ties
