Cowboys can't be a one-dimensional offense

The main focus for the Cowboys in the offseason is to develop an offense scheme where it isn't so one dimensional, i.e., having Zeke be the main cog. RB is such a injury-potent position in general so to put so much dependency on one person at that position is asking for trouble.
It also needs to become more imaginative because currently, they are pathetically predictable.
We've seen what being overdependent on Zeke has meant with him not there.
The need to find a 2nd RB that will help prevent such a dramatic dropoff if Zeke is out for any reason. That would have to come from the Draft because they will be hard pressed to find a RB in FA willing to accept a very limited role behind Zeke.
They also have to upgrade the WR position with more speed, separation, and consistency on the outside in order to help a lesser talent thrive at RB due to teams having to respect the passing game. Dez doesn't offer that aspect. He will be a good # 2 going forward if he is willing to accept that reality.
We also need to look into getting a more dynamic TE. Witten is great but he is very limited in stretching the field and offering much versatility at this point in his great career.
Having Zeke available next season will do wonders for making the team and coaches look much smarter/better.
But creating an offense that can thrive in multiple situations is a must in order to become a top team.

The team acquired a pair of 'smurfs' and does not use them. The team has what they consider a top shelf receiver, Dez Bryant, and completely under uses him or not at all until the second have and when well behind.

Naw, the team needs to solidify it's defense and not with just a bunch of gambles...

The run game is the only thing that is still doing good . Almo and Lil Rod have been getting just about same yardage as Zeke . Its not like even with Zeke thi year they have been killing it . The Problem is Scheme and coaching . Its like the do 0 adjustments and trying to do same thing as last year. Does not work when D coordinators have a full season of tapes. Now my opinion why run game is still working ... Teams are taking away the bootlegs and screens Dak has down so well , they let the RBs get some yardage. Right now no one is scared of Daks arm . Right now Cowboys are in bottom 5 of passes of 20+ yards . So teams take away what makes Dak so good and the dumb staff just sits there with derp faces. Trust me I am enoying it . Whats sad is Jerry Does nothing to change it because he likes being a Pupet master and does not want a Good Coach like JImmy who goes against the grain .

Whats even worse , normal fans that have nothing to do with NFL can see the problems and could Get Jerry that ********** he wants so bad .

I was thinking about that, the good news is that we already have a dynamic TE named Rico Gathers. He will be ready to handle NFL blocking assignments and will add a big weapon to the offense next year.

We paid a significant amount of money to have a good #2 RB in Morris, with mixed results. Next year that spot will be upgraded and we will surely add a specialty back into the mix.

Get Zeke back from a phony suspension and add a high draft pick WR with deep speed and our offense will be explosive again.

Sure, Jerry likes being puppet master more than rescinding the salary cap and making another Herschel Walker trade. He would definitely do both of those things if he wasn't having so much fun being a puppet master.

Feels funny liking a Philly fans comment, but truth prevails.

? Dez is top 5 in passes thrown to him. He is well below average on percentage of actually catching them.

The non-Zeke RBs get their yards against 7-men in the box vs Zeke getting the yards,vs 8-men in the box. The rushing yards are not equivalent. That's why the passing game suffers without Zeke.

Another 'stat' being what kind of pass and when thrown too is very relevant as well. More than talent is involved in the lack of execution and almost negative scoring for the past three games...

JG only had a winning season in 7 years when he had the NFL's rushing leader. Other seasons, he went 8-8 three times and 4-12.

That should tell you all you need to know about JG's scheme. It only works when he has the best RB in the league. Look at the offense this year once Zeke was gone.

Zeke is a great player but there shouldn't be this much of a drop off without him if the the other parts of the scheme was sound. It's not like we have total scrubs at RB.

They do have total scrubs behind Tyron Smith though. And now Smith is obviously playing hurt (and looking bad) because of it.

It's that antiquated triplet, 3 super bowl winning years offense.

Given all the holes on defense, let's hope we have a real player in Rico. Truthfully he's still a big ?

Unironically, yes, that offense was great then and antiquated now.

The wishbone used to be cutting edge once too. Not so much now.

Also we have no triplets so it's moot anyway. Dez might as well be Irvin after the spinal cord injury and Zeke is AWOL. Dak is no Aikman yet, but when the team rotted out from under him in the late 90s you didn't see Aikman accomplish jack squat either.

I just don't understand the hate on Witten.
Witten WAS NEVER FAST!! That was NEVER his game! Sad to say this but it all goes back to Quarterback play. Defenses have been playing with 8 or 9 players in the box (because they don't fear the deep game) therefore, the seams/ middle of the field is congested and there is nowhere for Witten/Beasley to go.Come on people, speed isn't necessary for a TE. TEs usually run routes to exploit the middle/seams of the field but when the defense clogs up the middle with 9 players (leaving the WR 1 on 1) there is nothing Witten can do. You solve this by getting plays to your WRs on the outside and that will make the safeties back up and that will open up the middle/seams up. Sometimes I wonder if people here actually understand simple football concepts.
Witten has really good hands (most important asset for a TE) and is great at finding the hole in the coversge (when there is room). As I said, the moment Dak starts getting chunk plays to his WRs on the outside, Witten will start to get wide open .
Dak has to take advantage of the defense stacking the box...he just has to.

Yet the coaches game planned and called plays like they still had Smith playing. Totally stupid.
