Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick will have surgery by end of the week

OXNARD, Calif. – Orlando Scandrick will return to Dallas on Wednesday and will undergo season-ending knee surgery on Thursday or Friday, according to coach Jason Garrett.
Scandrick suffered the injury in Tuesday’s practice after colliding with rookie wide receiver Lucky Whitehead.
Because of the tear of the medial collateral ligament, the surgery needs to be done quickly to help with the healing process. Had it just been an anterior cruciate ligament tear, the surgery would have been delayed for a while to allow Scandrick to build up strength in his quadriceps to help in the rehab process.
“We love Orlando Scandrick,” Garrett said. “He’s a really, really good person and a really, really good football player and has been for us for a number of years. We’ve talked many times right here at this podium about the instinctiveness he has as a player, just his feel for the game and his playmaking ability. We’re certainly going to miss that. He was coming back and really looked good over the last few days.”...
