Ventrell Bryant is likely going to IR. Turner replaces him as WR/ST at least temporarily.

I found David Helman's comment in a twitter post yesterday very interesting. Not many people have realized he said this but he mentioned the idea that Xavier Woods could end up on IR also because of his injury he is battling.

Wow.....you can stash UNLIMITED people on IR this year?....I'm shocked your not seeing this more. Make a claim....put him on IR

Yeah, originally reported early on this year that it was 3x this year but later it came out that it's unlimited and I don't think many of us if any caught on until recent.

Nice move for special teams. Obviously they're waiting to put Ventell Bryant on IR until later this afternoon so they can activate him later this season (the 24 hour rule). But Malik Turner also has a little upside as a reserve receiver and he's worth a look.

Upgrade over Ventell Bryant?

5 things to know about Malik Turner

He worked his way up the depth chart in Seattle.
Turner caught five passes for 91 yards and a touchdown during his first preseason with the Seahawks. While it wasn't enough to crack Seattle's initial 53-man roster, Turner was offered a spot on the team's practice squad and saw action in two regular-season games later that season. The 6-foot-2, 202-pounder came back to make the Seahawks' initial 53 last summer and stayed there. He had 15 catches for 245 yards in 15 games last season. Turner also is regarded for his run-blocking and special-teams acumen. He became a free agent in April when Seattle rescinded its exclusive-rights tender.

Looks like a clear upgrade at WR. Not just a ST guy. He didn't participate in the combine or pro days because of injury. I wonder how fast he is.

This article has lots of stats.
https://packerswire.usatoday.com/2020/08/12/what-to-know-about-new-packers-wr-malik-turner/
Last season, he averaged 16.3 yards per catch and 11.1 yards per target, with six catches over 20 yards and a catch percentage of 68.3. Quarterbacks had a passer rating of 120.5 when targeting him in 2019. He created 10 first downs on 15 catches and averaged 6.7 yards after the catch. His average depth of target was 12.1 yards, with a long catch of 33 yards.

PFF
Turner earned an overall grade of 68.0 at Pro Football Focus during the 2019 season with the Seahawks. He averaged 1.93 yards per route run, which actually led all Seahawks receivers, and he caught both of his catchable targets over 20 yards. PFF did credit him with four drops, including one against the Packers in the NFC Divisional Round. His passer rating when targeted was the second-best among Seahawks receivers, trailing only Tyler Lockett. Turner had six games with a grade over 70.0 and seven under 60.0.
