Cowboys closing on deal with Cooper Kupp

Yet NFL.com has him listed as a top 20 WR in separation rates. The data on this stuff is all over the place. They really need to get better definition and tracking methodology before on these open/separation stats before we take them too serious.

When Kupp did play last year I really struggle to see how he put us as good of numbers as he did while being that bad at actually getting open.

Yea, definitely odd.

Top 20 when you exclude T.E.s, which is reasonable.

Stephen must have caught wind of this and put the full kibosh on it.

It’s honestly not a great move. This team needs to be in at least a semi rebuild mode, not making win-now additions.

Jerry probably wants a splash with his Netflix documentary in the mix. Unbelievable that even happened. An unreal wealthy slime of a person that’s a complete NFL loser and refuses to quit. Great show.

He had 67 catches for 710 yards and 6 TDs last year playing in 13 games, so it's not like he wasn't a major contributor.

Our No. 2 last year had 26 for 256 and 3 in 10 games.

The major issue with Kupp now, and the reason LA moved on, is he can't stay healthy for a full season.
He can’t get open. And he can’t stay healthy. I don’t think he is the answer beyond being a “name” that fans recognize

Kupp is not worth $15 mil a year.
I honestly do not care about the price. It's not my money. I just want to see Dallas make a move that it isn't bargain basement. That would give me hope that there is at least a slight change in this FA philosophy.

Of course, if we did sign Kupp for $15 million and he bombed, it would probably just reinforce for the Joneses that FA is not worth the prices.

Evidence shows that he can get open for almost 70 catches and stay healthy for around 12 games. I want to improve our receiving corps without having to absolutely draft a WR at 12 (don't have a problem with it if WR is clearly the best player). Kupp would give us a better No. 2 threat.

The front office's usual response to an opening at No. 2 receiver is something like the Mingo trade. This is a better stab at it even if it fails. We will at least know the front office actually tried.

But I'm not going to debate it since I don't expect this signing to actually happen. No use wasting the energy that I've already wasted on it.

switching to Keenan Allen watch
I wouldn’t hate it. He is a big, reliable, possession WR.

Health is getting to be an issue, and he won’t be stretching the field, but if we draft a decent WR and utilize Turpin more as a weapon in the passing game— then Keenan may be a nice complimentary piece on the outside that can move the chains and help a bit in the RZ

I hear you, and he would be an upgrade over what we had last year— no question.

But at what cost? And what can we actually count on from a health/durability standpoint?

I would be fine with taking Tet at 12… or a trade back and taking Golden or Ekbuka (sp?) and getting some extra capital.

At this point, I don’t see any vet WR as a long term solution and the guys out there all have some question marks.

At the end of the day, we definitely need more weapons, and we have the money, so let’s do something lol
