Cowboys considered two QBs in draft

This is a nothing burger thread. During the draft the Cowboys consider lots of crazy ideas. Remember when Johnny Football was considered. These crazy things get considered and then they don't happen.

Just watch some of Shedeur Sanders' games. Look at his season weekly stats. The guy can make most throws. That's because he was under constant pressure all season long.

Ridicule his father or even his own cocky attitude all you want, but the tape shows Shedeur can make most, if not all, throws on the field. I know what I've seen (even though I don't care for Sanders), so I could care less what Merril Hoge says.
For whatever reason the NFL didn't care what he could do.

Time to the be on.

Dallas should have drafted Dart, and surrounded him with $60M in free agent talent paid for by the money saved by letting Dak walk. If that failed, just do it again until you hit on a QB. Dallas is going nowhere without a credible QB.

Even Sanders plus $60M in free agent talent is probably better than Dak. More interesting if nothing else.
Sounds good but totally unrealistic.
They cant unload dak till 2027.
They could cut him now and would still have to pay him.
They could maybe trade him if he agreed to it, but would still wind up having to pay him many millions. I think all the guaranteed $, so they are stuck with him and his paychecks, for 25 and 26.

They can play another qb, but still have to pay dakko !

Different sport, but LaMelo Ball (3rd pick) and Lonzo Ball (2nd pick) definitely did not see their stock drop because of their obnoxious father.

Shedeur did this to himself.

The hidden nugget in there is that Jerry doesn't consider us a QB needy team

So....get ready for 5 more years of last year. At LEAST 5, on repeat. Over and over.

Also, kudos to Jerry for a bunch of empty words (his norm). He "pounded the table" for Sanders, and then proceeded to not draft Sanders in RD1, not draft him in round 2, and even though he was sitting there in RD3 once again, Jerry STILL chose not to draft him a 3rd time. I'm surprised a rooster didn't crow after Jerry denied Sanders a 3rd time. I know of another guy whose name started with a J, with 5 letters in it, that also talked big but then denied, denied, denied.

But I guess it was the very NEXT pick Jerry would have used to draft him (yeah right, LOL)

He's such a phoney

While the Cowboys did not have any plans on drafting a quarterback after acquiring Milton, as two names slipped, they became more of a consideration for Dallas: Shedeur Sanders and Quinn Ewers.

Sanders is someone that Jerry Jones pounded the table for in Thursday night’s press conference to be drafted by a quarterback-needy team. While conversations did continue behind closed doors, there was an expectation that Dallas would have had to trade back into the fourth round to get him. That obviously never made it further than the concept phase, and Sanders was finally selected with the No. 144 selection by the Cleveland Browns, just five picks before the Cowboys went on the clock for the first time on day three.

Ewers was someone that Schottenheimer saw throw at Texas’ Pro Day back in 2024 for receivers Xavier Worthy and Adonai Mitchell, and he had kept his eye on the DFW-raised signal-caller. His name was another that got thrown around in the draft room on day three, but Dallas resorted to filling needs at other spots. Ewers was finally selected in the seventh round by the Miami Dolphins.

Well, Jerry, guess you could've had him, except YOU TRADED AWAY YOUR 4TH ROUND PICK FOR A BAG OF DORITOS.

Maybe next time you'll think.

If Ewers gets a chance to play in Miami, he may surprise many people.
I agree. Was hoping FO would have considered taking him, but with Milton on roster and so many holes on the team to fill, didn't have the picks to get him. Although, still puzzled on that trade up for Shemar when I think he should have still been there when they drafted later in the round.

False, he is WAY better than some of those QBs taken before him. If people don't see he was played by the league it's crazy. All because of how cocky he is
I tend to agree with the sentiment that if you don’t see him as a starter at some point this year then it would be distracting having the backup be the story every week.

Fish said LB's were starting to come off the board, so they hastily moved up to make sure and get
the one they wanted.
They did want ewers, but that move up may messed up the chance.

I saw ewers and his family after he was picked in 7th and man were they depressed, I felt bad for them. So now he will have a desire to prove himself.

If he winds up getting a chance to play, tua gets hurt alot, I will be watching those miami games.

Dodget a bullet there. Has anyone seen his pro day and think this is the solution at QB? Let alone all his character antics and the circus he brings.

Regardless of what you think of Sanders, by the 5th round, does it matter? It's low risk.

I just don't understand the Browns. Why did they draft two QBs?
This is what the Browns do.
