Cowboys Corralled by Texans

Well, it is good to see the Chicken Littles out in force. The Cowboys have a less than stellar performance, and fans are ready to jump out of buildings. Just what did you expect? Perfection? The Houston Texans do what they do best – play their best in the preseason. They came out and smacked the Cowboys in the mouth. Dallas did not answer the bell. All this tells us that we will now see how this team will respond to a little adversity. Because this Thursday’s game in Minnesota is the final preseason game, we fans will probably have to wait and see how the Cowboys do on Opening Day before that question is answered.
Before I go any further, I will preface this article by saying that I have not yet seen the game. However, going through the Gamecast, and reading the game threads, you can pretty much get a feel for what went on in Houston last evening. It was quite obvious that the Texans wanted this more. The Cowboys looked good against the uninspired Colts and the tired Broncos. Most of the other NFL teams have had a rough preseason game already, so I am not going to sweat this. What is important is that Dallas goes out and hammers the Giants in two weeks. The last thing any Cowboy fan needs is to hear the Little Ball of Hate shout out an “I told you so!” in reference to her Camp Cupcake remarks earlier this August.
It appears to me that Nick Folk has pulled ahead on the kicking battle. The missed extra point, and a few apparent bad kickoffs doesn’t bode well for the veteran. We will have to see how this turns out.
Glad to hear that Kevin Burnett’s injury is not serious. Once all of the blitz packages are incorporated, it will still be fun to see how the Cowboys will fare when the Giants come to town. The only thing I am a little concerned with is the heel of Terrance Newman. If he is out for any length of time, then it is going to be rough for the secondary. If to take out the #1 corner for any team, it will be rough.
It was nice to hear that Sam Hurd as stepped up to be the fourth receiver on this team. Just give this young man time to develop. Being from a small school, he will need it. As a rookie, he did make some key plays for Dallas last season. Most notably was the strip on the kickoff in Carolina. Dallas was still trailing at that time in the 4th quarter remember.
In closing, let me get this off my chest.
On one of the message boards I frequent (The Ranch), an Eagle fan came a trolling and the thread has since been locked. He later would brag how his Eagles won three NFL Championships (1948, 1949, & 1960 to be precise). Let me fill you in on a few things.
Ever since the Cowboys started drafting in 1961 (they weren’t allowed to draft in 1960), THE EAGLES HAVEN’T WON SQUAT!
ALSO, Those three NFL Championships the Eagles have won are ONLY THE EQUIVELENT TO THE NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES OF TODAY!
If you don’t believe that, then why don’t you make your way over to WaldenBooks, or Barnes & Noble, and purchase the 2007 NFL RECORD & FACT BOOK. Yes, even the NFL has acknowledged that little fact.
To play along with you though, Eagle fan…
…Dallas has played in 16 of those games…
…and won EIGHT…
…in TWENTY-SEVEN LESS YEARS OF EXISTANCE THAN YOUR PRECIOUS EAGLES!
Thank you for playing.
