Twitter: Cowboys could get Superbowl 53

Dallas Cowboys officials previously notified the NFL that they wanted to host a Super Bowl in any year between 2016 and 2019. League officials are scheduled to announce in October which teams will be invited to bid on the 2019 game. The winner is expected to be chosen during the NFL’s May 2015 meeting.

The linked article suggests that it's simply more competition now and I'm sure the lawsuits from the seating issue contributed to that.

The seating issue was inexcusable, the weather was unfortunate. The stadium deserves a chance at another Super Bowl and if they get it I think they'll knock it out of the park.

One more note, I think you'll see Buffalo announce a new stadium with a new ownership group.

The lawsuit thing was just my speculation. I imagine the area needed two years to get the stink off the embarrassment of it all before gearing up for a new SB bid.

However, the competition for the SB is legit. Alot more new stadiums being built and the NFL is also awarding SBs to cold weather teams, as well. So per the article that's the primary reason.

I think the metroplex should start preparing for ice better though. Over the last few years, I've expected a few pockets of ice days.

I really don't recall that many prior to that.

Dallas got a huge national black eye for that SB. That was just ugly. Lawsuits. Storms.

I think the venues that do well are the ones where everything is close & not so spread out.

The seat thing and weather thing were both fluky. The bigger more long-term issue is the location of the stadium. That thing should have been built in Downtown Dallas close to everything not in the middle of dying suburb. Damn you Laura Miller.
