Cowboys defense having trouble with TEs

They have had trouble defending the middle of the field versus the pass for years.

Athletic TEs are one of the hardest guys to cover one on one. Wilcox has a lot to learn.

Look at large athletic TEs and you usually find guys that get consistent yardage. Graham, Gronk, and Davis get yardage consistently regardless of who they face, because no one has people to match up with them very well. CB and S tend to be too small to tackle them while LBs tend to not be athletic enough to keep up with them. Much of the league is having a problem stopping these guys. Not saying we played one of those this week but it's mostly do you have a good enough LB really to shadow them.

Next year if we keep McClain and move Lee to the will then we might have someone to match up with those TEs.

I think in general good TE give most defense problems. Seahawks clearly had problems with Gates today as SD took down the seahawks.

I would still bring in Champ Bailey to play S in the nickel.

Isn't an athletic TE the biggest weapon against the Tampa 2? And to me Walker didn't really have anything exceptional today....he got the long TD on poor tackling.

Having trouble because we have two SS back there. Wilcox and Church are the same guy. Neither really good at coverage.

A competent qb would shred any defense if the circumstances aren't right. The Chargers just put 30 up on the seahawks today.

safties that don't understand their assignment and don't have the range, sometimes because they have to drop back and help CBs that can't really cover.. LBs that can't keep up with the TEs and don't have range. in these situations TEs will kill you in the mid range area, sitting behind LBs and in front of Safties who are trying to avoid giving up the deep play.

Their "coverage" safety (Hamilton) is suspended. Although they do have that rookie Jemea Thomas on the practice squad, but I'm not sure how he would fare against a TE because of his small stature.
