Attached is a Cowboys 2016 Offensive Depth Chart, based on the current roster. I feel that this is a good way of tracking where the Cowboys may be looking in the draft, as it is more of a goal of an NFL front office to plug players in to start their draft picks 1 or 2 years down the line, not that same season.

Please note there are some spots where aesthetically this may not agree to the true depth chart, as I've grouped players at a best-guess for where the team would, and left some spots blank where I find there isn't a starting caliber player under contract.

No assumptions have been made about either cutting future players (Brandon Carr) or franchise tagging (Dez) or re-signing players (Hardy, Crawford)

The big takeaway here is how much of the core team on offense they have under contract. They'll have the current starting offensive line under contract with relative ease (tendering Leary) and have to figure out the swing-tackle spot and interior offensive line backups from there. As far as the 2015 draft goes, those spots will likely be covered in Day 3 picks.

Romo is locked up for as long as they want him, and it becomes a matter of what they see in Dustin Vaughan as a developmental guy, or if they take a look at the position this year. Drafting a day two QB would not totally shock me, as it is a position where you would rather be a year early than a year late.

Tight End is what it is, as long as Witten is around he's going to look slow on the field, drag down the development of a young TE, and catch 60-90 balls, a dozen of which will be clutch game-saving catches that make you appreciative of having a Hall of Famer on the roster.

At RB I think it is a matter of who emerges from the draft and the current RB group to carry that position, but you'd think between the 4 options they have and a strong OL that won't be a concern for the future. If they find a guy they like they could easily spend a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd rounder at the spot, but they may have found the guy they like in Ryan Williams as well.

The biggest areas I could see focused on in the draft is at Wide Receiver. You would think even if a long term deal isn't made with Dez in 2015 that he would still be franchise tagged, but if there are guys they like I think Williams and Street are completely expendable in terms of talent. This is another strong draft at WR where there could be a marriage of need and value, where a 3rd and 5th pick being spent at the spot wouldn't shock me.
