I promised when I started the other thread to also do this one. I think this one should be limited to 4 rounds because 5th through 7th rounds are skeet shoots anyway. but I will include all 7.

Who is the worst 1st round pick the Cowboys ever drafted?
Who is the worst 2nd round pick the Cowboys ever drafted?
Who is the worst 3rd round pick the Cowboys ever drafted?
Who is the worst 4th round pick the Cowboys ever drafted?
Who is the worst 5th round pick the Cowboys ever drafted?
Who is the worst 6th round pick the Cowboys ever drafted?
Who is the worst 7th round pick the Cowboys ever drafted?

Once again, here is the link to get you started. If you feel like explaining why, by all means go ahead.

Don't forget the year.

1st round...1982, Rod Hill, DB, Kentucky.
2nd round...2004, Jacob Rogers, OT, USC.
3rd round...1972, Marv Bateman, P, Utah.

2nd Round - Quincy Carter QB 2001

He was a projected 4th rounder by just about everybody, so the Cowboys took him 2 rounds too high. Seemed to be drafted because Jerry fell in love with the fact that they shared the same birthday. Had talent, but had noticeable mental issues that we somehow ignored. Just didn't have the mentality to be a good starting, NFL QB.

id have to say Jimmy Smith. Not because he was a bad player, but because of what dallas missed out on.

1st round...2006, Bobby Carpenter, LB, Ohio State.
2nd round... 2001, Quincy Carter, QB, Georgia.
3rd round...1996, Clay Shiver, C, Florida State.

I'm gonna go with Dwayne Goodrich for the 2nd round. Two accounts of criminally negligent homicide makes you a pretty bad draft choice.

1st Round - 1972 Bill Thomas RB Boston College
2nd Round - 1962 Sonny Gibbs QB TCU
3rd Round - tie between 1996 Mike Ulufale DT BYU and 1976 Duke Ferguson WR San Diego State (he was who the Cowboys traded Bob Hayes for)
4th Round - 1995 Linc Harden LB Oklahoma State
5th Round - I'll do this as an asterisk - 1988 - they traded a 5th to Seattle for LT Ron Essink, who promptly retired.
6th Round - 1994 Darren Studstill DB West Virginia - his "contribution" was injuring Aikman's thumb prior to the regular season game with the 49ers.
7th Round - 2003 Justin Bates OG Colorado

1. Shante Carver
2. Quincy Carter
3. maybe Isaiah Stanback

Howard Richards is another promising 1st Round wart. Out 1971 draft, when Tex and Gil were at the height of their powers, was shockingly stinkaroo.

1. Shante Carver (The first pick Jerry made without Jimmy's help)
2. Jacob Rogers (The last time the Cowboys went high for an OT, at least Quincy won some games for us between dubies. This Softie Never started a down)

1st. Bobby Carpenter 2006
2nd. Quincy Carter 2001
3rd. The Punter. Who takes a punter?
4th. Isiahah Stanback 2007

1. Kevin Brooks
2. Jacob Rogers and Shane Hannah
3.Mark Walen
4.NIcky Sualua (wasn't he the reason Mark Tuinei Overdoased)
5.Darrin Hambrick because he thought he was good.

For the 1st round I considered Scott Appleton because he was the 4th pick in the 1964 Draft and never played for us, opting instead to sing with the AFL team who took him in their Draft.

4th pick in the Draft and you get nothing out of it...says a lot.

Let me correct that for you:

We traded the rights to our first round pick to Pittsburgh for WR Buddy Dial. We made the selection of Appleton for the Stealers but he opted to play for the Oilers who had also selected him in the first round of the AFL draft.

We would have been much better served to have kept the pick and taken Paul Warfield since we needed a WR. (He was selected at #11 by the Browns).

Dial had been a Pro-Bowler the year before but he didn't do much for us.

Dial got hurt early on with the Cowboys - I believe he tore up his leg. That was the reason for a lack of return on the trade.

That's true. We got him in what should have been his prime.

I do love that the Stealers got screwed on that deal since they gave up their best offensive player and ended up with nothing. Ha ha ha ha ha ha! :lmao2:

I would have to go with Skyler Green here. At least Stanback made the roster for a few years.
