Cowboys draw fines for actions during Week 5 win over Jets

Did they fine the Jets receiver who head-butted Diggs before Diggs shoved him in the face mask? The broadcasters rightly called him out for making the first contact, saying he should have been penalized.
Thank you, was wondering the same.

Two Cowboys players are a little lighter in the wallet after last weekend's trip to the Big Apple. At least one of them got a good laugh from everybody out of it.

Cornerback Trevon Diggs and offensive lineman Nate Thomas were fined by the league for separate actions taken during the team's 37-22 Week 5 win over the Jets at MetLife Stadium, it was announced Saturday.

Diggs was docked $12,172 for striking Jets wide receiver Xavier Gipson after a change-of-possession play early in the fourth quarter.

Thomas's fine- and its own accompanying 15-yard penalty- came after a moment that drew laughs from those who caught it. Just as tight end Jake Ferguson hauled in a short-yardage pass from Dak Prescott to put the Cowboys up 23-3 at the end of the first half, Thomas celebrated with what the NFL has deemed "an obscene gesture." Thomas's rendition will cost him $4,814.

Through five games, eight Cowboys players have been fined for a combined $107,782.

The NFL is a joke. The fined Thomas for a celebration? Seriously? The hypocrisy of the NFL is astounding.

And why was Diggs fined but not the Jets player who headbutted him before he retaliated? I get that the refs may have missed the first guy, but the league reviews the video and they could not have missed it.

Of course not. No fine for Arian Smith according to a search.

The ref was looking right at Smith when he headbutted Diggs. Only threw the flag on Diggs.

King Midas has levied his authoritarian punishment. Diggs deserved it. But Nate Thomas I'm not so sure. I must admit, after seeing the video clip of him, it was funny...but very unnecessary. A bit dumb.

Better have because the fact that he ignored that that happened when we all seen he instigated it that's what we call taunting and when you smack your helmet against some other players helmet and you expect no response is ridiculous...

God help us if the players have a lil fun every now and again.

Retire Goodell and lets get someone more in tune with the times.
I'd rather they cut down on all the nonsense. Dancing like an idiot after every positive play gets old and makes them look stupid.

There's nothing more cringe inducing than the modern day player getting a turnover then he and his entire defensive cadre have to delay the game as they run down the field to the end zone to mug down like narcissistic idiots for the camera. Act like a professional. Act like you've been there.

I hope that Dak pays the fine for Thomas. It was worth the laugh and Thomas is kicking butt for late round afterthought.
I thought the Thomas penalty was weak abd fine worse. I get they want to stop tainting but didn’t look like he was trying to taunt anyone, just celebrating
