NFC Divisional Playoff Dallas Cowboys — 1 unrestricted free agent for $5,807,475 or more in Year One of contract + the same number of Cowboys unrestricted free agents who sign with other clubs + any unrestricted free agent for less than $3,861,823 in Year One of contract with limitations on per season increases.
Just to clear up any future confusion. Copy/Paste straight from NFL Labor site.
So we get:
1 Big UFA contract
Any number of UFAs that match our UFAs that sign with other clubs (we only have 1, Holland)
Any number of UFAs under $3.86 Mil....
We're not really all that bad off then. Easy way to get around this rule.... Backload the contract and offset it by giving the player a decent sized signing bonus, that will bring his year one of the contract smaller. The only thing that us being in the final 8 really restricts us from doing is signing many big contract UFAs and that's it.
