If there was ever a way for Jerry and co to prove that this year was different, this was the perfect chance. They’ve already acquired Gary, now Crosby is back on the market, all that chatter about busting the budget, now is the time to put your money where your mouth is. And how do the cowboys respond ? “we are not expected to re-engage in trade talks for Maxx Crosby. Acquiring R. Gary and deciding that that takes you out of the running for Crosby is laughable at best.

I’m not going to close the door entirely on the Cowboys being out just yet. But if the latest reports are true, it’s just another offseason of the Cowboys not delivering.

Gary's contract is not guaranteed. He can be released for the embarrassment of losing a 4th.

We can still make the same offer and now ask for a 2027 4th in return from the Raiders, to recoup our wasted 4th on Gary.

Assuming he will be healthy???

I just can't believe we didn't get a single decent linebacker. We're back to having to draft for need again.

Screw Jerry and his cheap loser kid.
cheaper to draft LB in the first round.

Most FA are gone after 1-2 seasons.

That’s the point, they’re not going out of their way to make it happen. Same ole same ole

Crosby is not a free agent so it’s not even relevant. If they can get him for a pittance, sure, they should do due diligence to improve the team, but, it has nothing to do with ‘busting the budget’. Giving up major draft capital is a different kettle of fish and is not something they should be doing with the state their roster is in.

With that said, it became clear pretty quickly on day 1 that they weren’t planning on busting the budget at all. It’s basically business as usual. They signed one serious free agent and the rest is depth. They didn’t fill their most serious need at LB and they go into the draft with too many holes to fill and too many restraints on need because they didn’t do their work in free agency. They have a must draft position at LB now so unless they get lucky they will to forced to reach.

Crosby not being a free agent means didly poo. Nobody cares how they bust the budget.

I would’ve liked a linebacker too, but are we really sure that any of these guys are different makers? Every one of them has significant questions

Since the trade isn’t official til tomorrow, why would we even have to be embarrassed about losing a pick? Just decline to submit the paperwork.

Every position is cheaper to draft.

Problem is, there aren't enough high picks to go around. And you never want to be drafting for need anyway.

So is spending 10 million per year the same as spending 10 million per year and 2 first round draft picks?

Gosh, the party doesn't really start until tomorrow, Wednesday. There's still plenty of time for a trade, either for an edge or LB. Don't give up until the fat lady shows up!

Seems their idea of busting the budget is trading for an expensive DE and giving out a three-year contract to an outside FA for the first time in forever. Wheee! Let's celebrate.
