Cowboys fans are having a change of heart around head coach Brian Schottenheimer

Don't know about other fans
But I have not been happy with the pick at HC.
This team if serious about winning should not be giving a career assistant his first HC opportunity.
Garrett 2.0
I don't know how anybody could not like the head coach at this point.

Fairly easily

Nothing has happened yet.

It’s not about like or dislike. It’s about seeing his actions conveyed on the field.

It’s called taking a wait and see approach. Sorry if after 30 years of failure some fans aren’t running to hail the great new HC of the cowboys who hasn’t even coached a padded practice yet.

Am I happy with how he’s worked this off season so far, absolutely.

Has he proven anything other than he talks the talk? No. But he can.

To be honest. I’m more excited about Adam’s. This is the first offense we have had that is from this decade. The OL coach is exciting as well. Solari was terrible.

You don't have to like him but you don't have to say anything negative about him either.. No one should be forced to like somebody but they shouldn't have a negative opinion about the guy up to this point he hasn't done anything to warrant negativity....

Except this guy is actually more qualified to take on a HC gig than Garrett was when Jerry gave him the job. Don't take this as support for Schotty either, there's a reason he has been a career assistant. I'm merely pointing out his coaching experience when he got the job versus JG's experience when he was hired.

Hiring Schotty was a massively dumb idea, but hiring Garrett was far worse.

The poll is somewhat amusing since not a game has been played yet. I will say this though, I think fans’ initial reaction was anger and disappointment at a seemingly unqualified hire. However, he has presented himself well and instilled energy and enthusiasm in the team and that’s visible. I think fans’ perspective has changed in so much as that they are willing to give him a chance based on that. However, it always boils down to the results on the field and I can guarantee you that he will have a very short rope with most fans if things don’t go well.

Any new head coach instills energy. It happened with Mike and Jason too.

Doesn’t mean it stays.

- i'm not grading Schott as of now .. based off Rah-Rah speeches and tone cheers.. ..even inside hireee likeDave Campo & Jason Garrett
were great enthusiastic sales pitchers.
and Red Garrett sold the Jones for an entire Decade here at that.

- What's more JG actually had notable asst. coaches hires in DC Rod Marinelli , Kellen Moore, Wade Wilson, Scott Linehan, Leon Lett, Rich Bisaccia..
A big difference (and downfall) was those coaches did not evolve and adjust accordingly once the opposition counter-schemed ..

- Neither did Garrett.

- Initially I wanted a more reputable asst. coach to hire to replace McCarthy- the hotter, more popular HC prospects like Ben Johnson or Lien Cohen.
And let's face it was gonna be an offensive minded HC to center around Dak..

- Also i was never sold that Deion was a true contestant for new HC ,..that's just too much drama, circus show and internal conflict - even for Jerry.

Frankly it sounds like a great pitch, the asst. coach hires such as Adams & Ebeflus sound promising, and the Pickens trade has really ignited the fan base ..but
it still will be about translating this excitement and potential to the actual playing field. ..that's when it will really be bought into.

I would like Mike Irvin to coach. lol. That show he put on a long time ago is when Jesse Holley was found.

I don't understand how the Pickens trade ignited anything. The guy isn't among the top 25 receivers, so what's so special? A trade for someone like Tyreek Hill would have actually been something to talk about.

It will be interesting to see which one comes out with the most catches without throwing a fit, Lamb or Pickens, because it's bound to happen if Dak chooses one over the other.

Cowboys fans have really come around on Brian Schottenheimer.

Back in January of this year, when the Dallas Cowboys needed a new head coach after Mike McCarthy’s departure, fans had their own favorites for the job. Suffice it to say, very few fans had Brian Schottenheimer at the top of their list.

When Jerry Jones decided that the Cowboys offensive coordinator was the man for the job, there was a tremendous negative backlash from the fanbase. Many thought the Jones family was just going cheap because Schottenheimer would be a first-time head coach. Others thought Jerry was just hiring a puppet, someone who would carry out his wishes.

In general, it was a time when most thought - what are the Cowboys doing? Fast forward roughly six months, and the feeling is very different.

Way too early to make judgement either way as this team hasn't played a single game yet.

I do not see it as a grade or not.
All it is saying, some fans are coming around to supporting what has transpired thos off season.

Most are probably comparing it to last year at this time.

We all know we need to see it on the field. But to what he is trying to accomplish and build as team cohesion, fans are liking it.

Yeah?

I saw this song and dance with McCarthy and with Garrett.

Everyone comes to Dallas thinking they are going to make a difference. Then Jerry steps in. Wade wanted to fine players. Jerry said no.

And realistically. The guy was already in the building. He did nothing of note. Now all of a sudden some JAG FA pick ups and Pickens, some Greek dancing and we are supposed fall in line and bend the knee?

I’m good.
