Cowboys fans are having a change of heart around head coach Brian Schottenheimer

“He has not let a head coach truly be the actual head coach in decades. I assume we have to go back to Bill Parcells, but when you consider that Parcells left because Jerry decided to push Terrell Owens on a coach who wanted nothing to do with him, we probably have to go all the way back to Jimmy.” - Bob Sturm
says you...LMSAO Look I hate to break it to you but anything you hear or you think you know or you've put together something because you think you have some kind of proof because the last 30 years hasn't been productive in the playoffs but you make things up like you know exactly what goes on behind the scenes and you don't I say that you should stop you guys are just making stuff up as you go jerry does not meddle not as much as you think he does not since probably 10 or 15 years ago literally yes after Jimmy left jerry was doing things like coming down to the sidelines etcetera Etcetera the drafts weren't good there wasn't a lot going on but since Bill Parcells his coaches get to coach just like any other coach jerry does not coach and by the way the GMS all bring in the players all of them the coach may ask for things and maybe a lot of coaches get them maybe coaches get more to work with but the GM's main job is the higher and fire Staffs and to bring in every single player that is what they do they pick all the players some of them are by request but I hate to break it to you terrell Owens was a great pickup if Bill Parcells had a problem with it too bad we needed a great wide receiver he was one and you cannot like TO either but I'm sorry he left too early that's the truth..

And by the way Bill Parcells is a quitter he's a loser he left here before things got going and you're gonna blame Jerry for it no I'm sorry he wanted to be the GM bill Parcells and Jimmy Johnson they're true goal was to become GM's and guess what not a single team gave them that role they were not as good as people want to make them out to be..

And you can keep making things up to make you feel better and you can have a little group agree with you but you'll never know what goes on behind the scenes you only know what they allow you to know jerry may not do things like a top five front office GM but a lot of the narratives around here are absolutely wrong it's never ever been verified by any ex coaches...

I'll reiterate the GM of 95% of the teams does all the hiring and all the firing they pick almost all of the players and the coaches while all of them will have a right to be heard the final say is usually with the GM and it happens to be here it's also the owner and people just don't like it..

By the way I imagine if Jerry did this it would be never ever let go but you know the Jim Irsay daughters just inherited the team and you know that the controlling owner now I don't know her name you know she's been going down on the sidelines and literally wearing a coaches outfit and wearing an actual headset and she says she's listening to every play cause she wants to know whether these guys are doing a good job or not or if there's just a bunch of BS and she doesn't know the truth so she's down there on the sidelines monitoring everything play by play and she says he's going to continue doing so..

This is a front office person literally on the sidelines wearing a headset and has a play sheet if Jerry did that this place would go nuts and you know what go under the radar not one person here is open that discussion of course it's being found out now because she now owns the team.

Go look it up...crazy huh ..jerry doesnt even do that.. I can't even remember the last time Jerry came down to the sidelines I remember in the 4th quarter he used to do it a lot but I've heard of a lot of other owners even Tom Brady over Bill Belichick towards the end of their little run over there in New England when they were trying to replace Tom Brady with Jimmy Garoppolo and Brissette tom didn't like it tom went to the owner and the owner fixed it he traded both of them that is what the owner in GM does sometimes the coaches don't have any say..

They're far too many examples that go over but this happens all the time the head coach does not have 100 percent control of anything really and Jerry does not force players on game day to be active and how many snaps are going to get all this stuff is nonsense and again I'm not agreeing with everything Jerry's ever done or said he's made a lot of mistakes I don't consider him a top five front office guy but he's not the worst G M in the league not even close.

Tell me how that's not meddling or distracting or in some ways undermining your coaching staff she can make all the excuses you want that's going beyond even Al Davis.... It says in the article she's not trying to micromanage your coaches that's a bunch of nonsense she's been doing it for a while and she's going to continue doing it as the owner...lmao

I think what we have seen so far is very positive. He seems to be relating to the players well. We know he has built a solid coaching staff, reaching out for up and comers rather than some tired old washed up retread. They have picked up players that at least seem to fit what he wants to do. So, I think his grade thus far is very solid...but it won't mean squat if they don't perform on the field. The question then becomes what are reasonable expectations? This team was 7-10 a year ago after multiple double digit win seasons. Should double digit wins be a must? I mean, with all the injuries we had a year ago it should be a logical conclusion that this team should be better if there aren't key injuries. Adding coaches that appear to be upgrades and an influx of new players that hopefully are better than the ones that left, I would say 11 to 12 wins should be the minimum to expect. Less than that and you have to question things.

I’m simply quoting a respected Dallas sports insider. Take it up w Bob Sturm if you take issue with his quote.

“Jerry has never respected the office of head coach enough to allow them to run their program. Because along the way, he has never allowed them to do something as basic as “name their own staff.” - Bob Sturm
Yeah because he wants input, even on things like game planning. This isn’t me trashing the guy. He admitted that part. Made me want to puke. “….when I tell my head coach is like to see more of….”

He probably didn’t have that when Parcells was here and doesn’t want that to ever be the case again, so at least one coordinator was going to be hand picked by him.

His fingerprints are all over everything and they haven’t won a divisional playoff game in 30 years. THIRTY. Not championships. Divisional playoff games.

Glad you’re happy with Jerry making most of the hc decisions. It’s really paid off in playoff games.
I mean the fact it is even being argued is hilarious.

Look at the decisions made last year.

Any HC in the league going to have an off-season like that and be content? Nope.

Trotting Zeke out there lol.

Not to mention, players have come out and basically said that Jerry is the be all end all, and the money plays on the field, not the talent. Sub par players play based on their contracts. That isnt a decision a HC will make.

I loaded the above as is into ChatGPT. Then I asked it to add punctuation.

My iPhone exploded.

I guess not all Cowboys fans use Spock's ironclad logic like we do! It's obvious to a third grader lol.

Cowboys fans have really come around on Brian Schottenheimer.

Back in January of this year, when the Dallas Cowboys needed a new head coach after Mike McCarthy’s departure, fans had their own favorites for the job. Suffice it to say, very few fans had Brian Schottenheimer at the top of their list.

When Jerry Jones decided that the Cowboys offensive coordinator was the man for the job, there was a tremendous negative backlash from the fanbase. Many thought the Jones family was just going cheap because Schottenheimer would be a first-time head coach. Others thought Jerry was just hiring a puppet, someone who would carry out his wishes.

In general, it was a time when most thought - what are the Cowboys doing? Fast forward roughly six months, and the feeling is very different.
