Ditto.SteveOS said:What were Henson's stats today? Damnit, I missed the game...again.
Silverstar said:Yeah, he had a lot of D2 experience from three years ago.
How many D2 QB's are actually starting in the NFL BTW?
Ummm....zero?
jackrussell said:Romo didn't play Division 2 football.
Tony Romo- Eastern Illinois- Ohio Valley Conference- NCAA Division 1-AA
Perhaps your point would be how many Division 1-AA QBs are actually starting in the NFL.
Kurt Warner- Northern Iowa- Gateway Football Conference- NCAA Division 1-AA
Fall behind what? He needs playing time. Mini camps, practices and training camp won't improve him more than playing time. See NFLE for a great example.CrazyCowboy said:I would be disappointed in Drew if he does not demand to attend veterans mini-camp and participate in it.......he would fall behind IMO and waste an excellent opportunity to succeed :starspin
Silverstar said:Ahhh, I was waiting for this...
Yep, but Warner also played in the NFLE, before he started tearing up the league in 1999. Tony (D1AA) Romo doesn't have that NFLE experience and that's my point.

In that case, Henson should hustle back from Europe and be ready for the veteran minicamp to compete for the backup job. To not do that might waste the positive press he has gotten while in Europe.
If Henson feels that he gained an edge in playing speed in Europe perhaps it would not be a bad idea for him to rush back. As long as he is healthy, it would perhaps be better to vacation after the minicamps are over.
At some point Henson must compete and win against Romo. I think he should be planning to do that this year to become the heir apparent for Bledsoe. Heir apparent this year. Serious competition for the starting role next year. He still has time but the clock is beginning to tick...for Bledsoe and for Henson.

CrazyCowboy said:I agree with you exactly......thanks for explaining it for me....been out doing family stuff all day.
Drew Henson WILL attend mini-camp IMO, because he really wants to be a Cowboy and he knows BP will expect him to show and display his leadership responsibilities to his teamates.
Winning or losing the backup job won't be determined by what ever press he did or didn't get playing in Europe. Same with playing or not playing in the vet camp coming up. BP will determine the backup QB after training camp and preseason is over in early Sept. not in late May.lspain1 said:Without speaking for Crazy, I think he is expecting Drew to compete for the backup spot this year. who says he'll be runnin with the no.1 offense enough to get his timing down with TOCrazyCowboy said:I agree it would have been nice to have seen Drew play, however, he left NFLE on a high note and he attends veterans mini camp.
I am glad it happen just like it happened......a win/win for us fans! :starspin
- Get's timing down with T.O.
- Chance to impress BP with his new confindence
- He shows his teamates his improvement
- Has a fair shot at #2 with Romo

Why in the world would you say this? The more reps any player gets the better.TwoSteppinJJ said:He should get a few reps but hopefully not many.

There is such a thing as reps with the 2nd team. Put them all to work. Every one of them.TwoSteppinJJ said:Because he would be taking away from Bledsoes reps and I want Bledsoe to feel 100% comfortable with Owens, Green, Fasano, Oline and the others.
