I think we may have missed the best chance for this team to go to the SB.
We may be at best average for the next few years.
We have some guys that been locked up into contracts that will cripple this team for years to come.

Well, you never know from year to year what you are gonna get in this league. We could be headed for the toilet or the promised land. I just have no confidence that this team will win a playoff game- not after that bedroom feces episode.

Talk about knee jerk.

How long did it take Donovan McNabb to get to the Super Bowl?
Or Brett Favre?
Or Steve Young?
Or Peyton Manning?

Pulease.

Tony Romo has shown enough to prove that he has what it takes. We just need a more mature team.

We have some of our key players locked up for years.

And as you're seeing with the Giants and Chargers, as long as you have a core group of guys who have playoff experience, your future looks bright.

I guess Jerry should send the league a letter and tell him we forfeit next season?

Who are the "some guys" you refer to?

I disagree. We are the 4th youngest team in the league. Whose contracts are going to cripple us?

One Patrick Crayton and one Roy Williams. Not sure they cripple us but they really hurt.

Sounds a bit dramatic to me.

Who are these terrible contract guys?

If the team was SB ready this year, why not next year?

I think they have a good core locked up for awhile and just need to add a few guys plus some seasoning of the current group.

I agree with you when it comes to a few players who are considered the core of our team. That makes us fundamentally flawed. I'm speaking mainly about the Defense (Roy - Reeves - Linebackers Not Named Ware). But I also question a lot of this team's discipline on Offense. Year after year after year after year, since before Parcells inherited this team, it has gotten penalized for minor procedural infractions and holding more than any other team I have watched when it came down to major games and drives in games. It just KILLED us along with dropped balls and bad special teams play last night.

You're way off on Crayton. His cap hit is pretty small over the next few years for a #3 WR that can return punts, especially considering the escalating cap. Which you probably haven't even considered.

The Cowboys are the forth youngest team in the NFL. Have we missed the best chance? That could be possible, but this team isn't on the decline. It's still very young and their is money and lots of draft picks to work with. If this teams declines, it will be Jerry Jones fault threw poor team management. This team should be competitive for years to come because the foundation is there.

Totally disagree, we are on the rise.

We are better this year than last and we will be better, more experienced next year.

Romo will be more experienced, more polished, .. just better as he grows and matures in the position.

We can prune some of the lesser talent and upgrade it for next season, while keeping the core talent on this team.

Yeah, Romo is the light.

Some of those scrambles last night were the stuff of legend. It was also the first time I have seen him actually angry and visibly flustered on the field - That intentional grounding scene was all nerves IMO.

Forged in a fire.

good then lets get rid of him!

Patrick Crayton can not return punts. Most of the time I feel relieved that he simply does not drop the ball. I dare any one to argue other wise.

And yes I know of the escalating cap $6m still seems like a lot to me though, thats resigning Flo right there. So are you saying we should get rid of him or not?

Crayton had a bad game, I still like him and he played well for us this year. His cap number is not an issue. Roy on the other hand is a :mule:

Couple of things to consider. It's four year $14M ($3.5M/yr) for a #3 receiver. That ($3.5M) is approximately 3% of next years cap I believe. That isn't a huge amount, but for a #3 receiver, you have to careful. Considering he returns punts also, helps offset the cap use. A good 3rd receiver is a valuable player to have. While I think it's iffy cap space usage next season, it gets easier in the future with cap increases. Of course, I am not happy with Crayton's performance last night, but of course he isn't a starting level receiver either..

It's hard to say. We are relatively young, with the exception of the WR's (the quality ones.) But there is definitely something wrong with this team. Way too many mentally-challenged players out there.

With the proper additions, we could be in the hunt the next few years. But I have serious doubts Wade's laidback approach will win big in this league. Also, who do we have to hold Jerry's hand in the draft room?

That is laughable. So we didnt get everything we wanted in Romo FIRST 2 years. He will get better. Things seem to get to him down the stretch. He has lost both playoff games by a total of 5 points. My point is... he/we are close.

When you really break it down... we may have avoided the "sacrifical lamb" role this year in SB. Thats it.

We are a handful of players away. The draft and an aggressive FA could fix this.
