Cowboys' first-team defense to start drills

This is merely respect for the veterans in training camp.
Yeah, I'm just saying, if Barham doesn't gain meaningful snaps within the first month of the season, now you're compromising winning football games. Get the best players on the field!

This is probably close to the real starting lineup

This is good info, thanks.

I fully expect it’ll change however, and quickly.

Caleb was too good to expose in the preseason but not good enough to start? Interesting.

OO and Hooker are not among the best 11 IMO but the word “starter” doesn’t really mean a whole lot with the amount of subbing they do down to down and series to series.

One way to look at it is the depth is finally there. Who’d have thought TWO Dallas first rounders would not be “starting” players?

Weird not seeing Downs over Hooker, but if Downs plays 90-95% of snaps and the 5-10% happens to include the first snap of the game it’s whatever.
I don't think there's a rookie on the planet going to play 90 to 95% of snaps on defense The defense is one of the most rotated positions I'm sure he'll come in on 60 to 70% but a lot of our rookies are going to be eased into this defense in my opinion but I could be wrong but you don't wear this dude out 90-95% so he's going to be out there for like 55 plays going full speed starting game one on the road..

I believe that is why they have an overabundance of safeties on this team This is lot of players that can play flex and move around and also the depth there isn't a big gap between that and a lot of the starters..

I expected to see Downs over Hooker when we are in the 3-4 front, and Hooker coming in when we go to the 4-2-5.

I also expect to see Barham steal some snaps away from Winters on running downs.

Ogbonnia is our third DL in the 3-4 front. We won't be in the 3-4 that often because this is a passing league. However, Parker said that we are a 3-4 base defense so this is the starting group.

The only one I question with this group is Hooker. To me, if we are running two safeties, the second safety should be Downs. But like with Barham, that may be a transition that happens over the first half of the season.

Don't you worry.

Barham is likely going to be on the field a ton. You need 3 or 4 lbs that can play. This is a good problem to have.

Nice, thank you.

The Hooker over Caleb thing might just be a respect type of thing. They’ll need Hooker along the way.

I remember when Kevin Smith didn’t start in his rookie year. It didn’t take long. I expect the same.
