I'm going to Philly to watch the Cowboys decimate the Eagles at the end of the month and was wondering if there are any Cowboys friendly bars in Philly to go hang out the night before?

Man, the way I read the heading of this topic, I thought you were saying there is a Cowboys-friendly bar in Philly. lol

I'm here in Philly, and I can't think of one. Some of my Cowboys fan buddies go to sports bars, but I don't ever recall them going when the Cowboys play the Eagles. I probably wouldn't advise it anyway because most Eagles fans are uncivilized neanderthals.

I'll ask around though, and if I hear of any, I will post it on the board.

Be careful. I know more than one person who got food poisoning in Philly at sports bars after they revealed they were Cowboys fans.

The entire state should be burned to the ground.

Couldn't agree more! I am a true blue, die-hard Cowboys fan and it absolutely KILLS me that I can't wear my jersey because I may lose my life over it! And to top that, I'm a girl.

Are you saying you can't wear your jersey in public?

I spent one football season up there. People are rabid. You can seriously get hurt wearing cowboy gear in public or cheering for the cowboys at a Philly sports bar.

I would watch at home and Cheer.

I can't when I'm in Philly, or at the game.

Well, I can understand your reluctance to wear it to the game, but I have seen PLENTY of Cowboys fans throughout the city wear their jerseys. If you've been in/near Philly long enough, you will notice that there are a LOT of Cowboys fans here.

I have worn my jersey quite a few times, and nobody has ever said anything to me. When something was said, it was in a lighthearted manner from a friend. The key is to not be timid when you wear it.

You could but you run the risk there of getting beaten up, stabbed, or killed because of it.

Just last year, might have been the year before, a woman got jumped and beaten by two Philly fans because she was wearing a Romo jersey while going to the convience store.

I hightly doubt there is a single bar in the entire cesspool of a city that is Cowboys friendly.

Unfortunately for the good Eagles fans out there (and yes there are plenty of them and I know some personally) their fan base is absolutely over run, more so than probably all other fan bases, by raging idiots who think it's cool to be violent and completely stupid over their Eagle fandom.

It depends on the kind of Eagles fan one runs into. I have lived in Philly for the past five years, and I have worn Cowboys paraphernalia without anyone harming me. I have had some arguments with fans, but the ones that I have encountered never took it to a physical extent. You just have to hold your own. I am not brazen enough to wear a jersey to a game, because I have heard too many horror stories, but I have no problem wearing it in public. I see people do it all the time, and the incident with that lady a couple of years ago is an isolated one. I mainly hear about Eagles fan violence at the game.

On another note, I have also had friendly exchanges with some Eagles fans. Many of my co-workers are pretty cool and objective, and they don't hound me if the Eagles beat the Cowboys, and I don't really say anything to them if the Cowboys beat the Eagles.

I agree but in the same thought process you answered it right there for a lot of it.

You won't wear a jersey to the game but you will in public? Where do you think the majority of Eagles fans at those games are going to be every day? In public in Philly.

So there is plenty of chance you'll run into raging idiots like that just going to a local bar for a fun time.

It's beyond pathetic that there is an NFL stadium where fans of another team have to feel like they can't wear their gear there because the idiots who are fans of the home team take it to a violent level.

I'd absolutely LOVE IT if there was some way the NFL would just take the Eagles away from Philly and leave that cesspool with no NFL franchise. It's what a large portion of that fan base deserves.

Which, again, is sad because I've met some very good, cool, level headed Eagles fans who were great to talk to, have some back and forth trash talk with, and just have a good time.

Sadly, more so than any other fan base, those guys are over shadowed by the complete morons who root for the Eagles.

But I haven't though; that's my point. Most Eagles fans are cowards, and they know they can get away with more at a game, when they have the support of thousands of their comrades (and security). In public, I don't really see them traveling in huge packs. The average Eagles fan won't just walk up to a Cowboys fan on his own to start something; he would usually be accompanied by a group of people.

Of course, there is always a chance I could run into an Eagles fan who is crazy enough to want to physically harm me, but in my experience so far, it hasn't happened. Even if I didn't wear a jersey, I probably wouldn't want to attend an Eagles vs. Cowboys game in Philly anyway. I have friends who attended the game, heckled and physically taunted by Eagles fans, but security ALWAYS caught the Cowboys fan retaliating (never the initiator), and that Cowboys fan was escorted out of the stadium. Going to those games are too much of a hassle and not worth it to me.

And we agree on this.

Agreed again. The Eagles fans are the very reason I hate the Eagles. I think most Eagles players probably don't hate the Cowboys as much as the fanbase.

So have I.

I tend to agree.

One of these years I'm going to wear a jersey, chaps, and a 10-gallon hat to Lincoln Financial Field.
