Cowboys game packages?

I apologize if this is off topic or out of line for this forum. Moderators, please move if needed.

I'm an out of state Cowboys fan (San Diego, to be exact) and I've never been to Cowboy stadium, even though my dad grew up in Dallas and his family used to go to games all the time when the Cowboys used to play at the Cotton Bowl. Well, its in the last year of his existence (or at least usage) and I figured its about time I catch a game there.

Instead of dealing with all the individual reservations and details, I was just going to go through a sports tour/package place and let them deal with everything. The 2 I have come across are www.CowboySportsTours.com and www.FivePointsTexasTours.com. My question is, does anyone have personal experience with either one of these companies, or could anyone recommend which one would be better for my experience?

If you have any suggestions or advice reagarding my query, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Honestly, you are going to get charged out the butt for those services. A simple reservation engine could get you everything but the tickets (travelocity can get you a hotel, car and airfare and it takes all of 30 minutes). A couple of minutes on stubhub and you'll be able to get the seats you want, as opposed to a sports tour telling you where you are going to sit. Just my two cents.

Very true, its just the ease of it all, and its not really that much more expensive. Things such as transfers to and from the airport, around Dallas, to the gates on gameday, certain meals, and other things they provide seem to make it worth it in my eyes. Thanks for your opinion though, you will probably end up being right.

I gotta agree with this. Dallas is overbuilt from the hotel end so you can find a good deal at a nice place if you search. It's much cheaper to get a great meal in Texas than California also.

I'd save the money to get better seats to the game or even to take advantage of some of the local touristy stuff. Plus, you won't be constricted to some agency's schedule for you this way.

I'm considering the sports package route too simply because I've never been to the metroplex and until I learn my way around, being chauffered and taken on tours and such seems like a great idea.

Hey, good stuff man, the nice part is myself and my bro just made a trip very similar to that from Tucson. We got to Dallas in roughly 14-15 hours, so the trip is very doable from a driving standpoint.

Probably so, but we're going to fly and rent a car. I have to work the day before the game. We drove to San Antonio last Summer and had an absolute ball doing it. My kids say they won't eat at Sonic ever again though.

:laugh2: They just didn't order the right thing. Gotta get a coney and cherry limeade. So simple and so good.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did their package run you? I'm curious because I didn't see the rates listed on the website. I'm expecting a callback from them maybe tomorrow.
Click on the "brochure" button along the left side.

I am biased, but I think the travel package is the way to go. You get good seats and you get meals taken care of and you get access to the team which you could not do on your own. We are the Cowboys official travel partner and offer a couple of different packages.

I have done it both ways.....and they each have their pro's and con's.

The main thing is get to the game--then the fun starts!

I've done both. My first two trips to TX Stadium I did the individual thing, booking hotel, airfare and tix separtely. My last three trips have been with a tour company (http://www.cowboyscorral.com) and have had a ball each time!!! Breakfast each day, dude ranch dinner Sat nite, player autographs, tour of the stadium, transfers to and from airport, transportation to/from the game and shopping, drink vouchers and many other perks. We stay at the Gaylord Texas, a massive hotel that once you're there, you never want to leave as there is so much to do. The president of the tour group is Barry Griffth. They treat everyone as family. I'm not going this year but will next year when the new stadium opens and will be calling Barry as soon as the final snap is hiked! Hopefully in February '09.
