Cowboys/Giants 2007 playoffs

This game was an abomination to the sport.

The Cowboys did not play particularly well, this is true. The gameplan left the Giants opportunity which they seized as is their m.o. Crayton should be ashamed of himself for his effort in this ballgame- absolutely.

However- the game's officiating was absolutely atrociously biased.

The sack/strip recovery nullified by a horrific offsides penalty which the official couldn't wait to throw.

The terrible holds all day on Ware non called.

The mystifying grounding penalty while Romo was in the pocket throwing OB unpressured.

The personal foul on BIGG.

IMHO, this is as close as I've ever seen an NFL game to a fix other than the Steelers/Seahawks SB. It was that bad. This game solidified to me that the Cowboys homefield advantage was completely eliminated by design of the NFL.

The 2007 Giants are one of the worst SB teams of ALL time. And no one can change my mind about that.
This is the year Goodell came in and decided his darlings from NY were going to be the face of the NFL.

And the OL in the second half. And the secondaryat the end of the first half.

The DL for the Giants completely dominated from midway in the 3rd quarter on. There was seemingly someone completely untouched chasing Romo on every pass play.

and the sad part is there were open receivers on a lot of those plays too.

damnit now i'm steamed.

That Giants team was a team of destiny. To beat the Cowboys (in Dallas), the Packers (at Lambeau), and ultimately the 19-0 Patriots in the Superbowl was beyond amazing.

There it is, one of two of the worst calls I've ever seen in one game. Romo throws the ball to the sideline with no Giant around anywhere and they call grounding.

The Bigg BS call for unnecessary roughness is the other.
The phanton Ware offsides on the first drive didn't damn near give you an anyuerism? Because it did for me.

I can't believe there are actually people that think this way. You would rather lose in the playoffs and not make the Superbowl than get there and maybe win the Superbowl? Really!

You ...

Forget it, I would probably get banned for writing what I am thinking of you right now.

Go somewhere else.

Here let me help you with that...

Yeah I remember that Ware offsides. It does not anger me as much as the Crayton play though. Even though Eli abused Reeves to end the half, Dallas still led 17-14 for a while. Crayton catches that pass and at the least, it's first and goal. 20-14 or 24-14 and I think Dallas would have had better options in the 4th. Folk was still good during that time.

Oh, and that last minute drive by Eli before halftime just breaks my heart. I thought that sealed our fate.

It gave the Giants so much confidence heading into the 2nd half.

Came in here to post this. We had just gone on like a 11min drive to take a 14-7 lead and get the ball to start the 2nd half. We end up putting the Giants into 3rd and something like 20. They pick that up with ease and end up tying it right before half. Doing all this with like a minute to go. I knew right there we were in big trouble.

That whole season, we were a quick strike and big play offense. Had Julius start the games and bring in Barber to be a change of back and finisher. Yet for that game, we change to a ball control and methodical offense and showcase Barber to start the game and he has nothing left for the 2nd half.

Horrible coaching decision.

Yeah, Reeves was pathetic in that game from the first drive on.

And I still have not forgiven Crayton for his dropped pass and him giving up and slowing down on his route at the end of the game.

This defeat hurts worse, in my opinion, than 44-6, the Vikings beating the Cowboys 34-3, or the Seahawks bobbled snap game.

Easily. We were a #1 seed and would have played the Packers at home in the NFC championship game. We own Favre in Texas Stadium. We had a real shot at the Super Bowl.

44-6....just to get a wild card birth and we were playing horrible down the stretch. Although the Eagles did turn that trip into a NFC championship birth since the Giants and Panthers both lost in the divisional round.

34-3...was not upset at all by this. We pulled of a miracle run at the end of the season to win the East and won our first playoff game in 15 or 16 years. You could see this coming. Vikings were way too good up front. But the reason I was not that upset at the time is because I thought we finally turned a corner and would be contending for years to come. My how things changed since that day. 2010 was a disaster from opening game.

Bobbled snap...Was not that upset at this. No real shot at a Super Bowl that season. Plus, we had a bright future it seemed. I was just happy to have finally found a real qB that season. Too bad Parcells didn't want to attack the Seahawks secondary that included a guy who was selling insurance the week before. :bang2:

No thanks, I just got a discount on razor blades and lemon juice that would make for a more pleasant two hours.

I know, bro!

I have no doubt in my mind that if we placed that 2007 offensive line on our current roster, we would be in serious competition within the NFC.

The Ware offsides call was the most enraged sports moment of my life. I remember jumping out of my chair screaming "Don't you dare throw that" because Ware had been a victim to phantom offsides calls that entire season for some reason.

Half a second later the laundry comes out and the game, the season, and the direction of the Cowboys' franchise is entirely altered.

I think you meant 19-DOH!

The only person who choked this game away was Patrick Crayton

Dropped a wide open pass that would've gotten them to at least the 5yd line then he stops on a route that was a guaranteed TD, but all people remember is Romo's desperate 4th down interception where he had no choice.

Other than the 81 title game loss to SF the 07 playoff loss to NY has probably been rehashed by Cowboy fans more than any other game. You can tell it still hurts.

The only good thing to come out of this thread for me is... I had no idea that I had NFL channel as part of my package! Wish I would have known this a long time ago. Thanks OP! For some strange reason, Cowboys Hard Knocks is now on.

Actually, I think the Seattle bobbled snap game has been rehashed more (by Cowboys and non-Cowboys fans,) simply because it involved such a specific, clear, crystallized-in-history-forever gaffe.

The loss to the Giants in the playoffs did not have anything that was that particularly remarkable about it, as opposed to many other playoff games in NFL history, except that it simply was very painful.
