Cowboys goal with the 12th pick

Disagree with him when he said" you build it from the outside-in".

Ever since 2016 they've been doing that exact thing and that's why they can't run the ball and can't stop the run.

I'm a believer in building it from the "inside-out" where the trenches are the main thing.

No wonder Jerry hired him

I was starting to believe in him, he says the right things, but if you're not building the trenches you'll be on benches watching the good teams play in the beginning of the year

this sounds like a draft to trade back at 12 but understand you arent going to "win" the trade because there is not a deep group of first round talents...there is, however, a very deep group of 2/3/4th round talent so it would be a wise move to drop back and grab more. Then pick oline and stay safe in the bottom of the 1st

Guyton - 1st, Beebe 3rd
Smith - 1st

Parsons - 1st
Mazi - 1st
Williams - 2nd
Kneeland - 2nd
Osa - 3rd

How much more investing can they do?

Out of 5 OL, 3 were day 1 or 2 picks. Martin was also a first.

On DL all four starters are day 1 and 2 picks.

Out of 9 possible starters in the trenches they invested 7 day 1/2 picks out of 9. It would have been 8 if Martin returned

But.....outside in sells tickets, jerseys etc

Guess I heard it differently, he said with the 12th pick that you are looking for a dynamic playmaker that can get to the QB or one that can score touchdowns or one that can prevent getting to the QB or one that can take a WR out of the game. So with the 12th pick, you are building from the outside in. Seems like every NFL team is doing the same thing especially with the first 10 picks of the draft.

You don't see many OC or OG or DT1 or ILB or S taken that high. Frankly, with this draft, I only see really 2 definite difference maker in Carter and Travis. If those guys not named that were in last year's draft then QBs Ward and Sanders and Dart would have been 2nd rounders or later and same goes for the OTs, DEs, Edge and RBs with exception of Jeanty. Better hope McClay hits on guys that have that hidden potential.

I didn't listen to the clip. Was he talking overall offense or specific to OL? If specific to OL, then I could at least accept that T's are the most difficult piece of that puzzle.

Still have to build a strong middle though ... so the wording still doesn't ring true either way.

At this point, I don't care which position they take with the 12th pick, as long as he comes in year one and makes an impact. No more developmental guys like Guyton, Taco, or Mazi. Also, no guys with a history of injuries or medical problems like Vander Esch.

Holy crapp, we just hired a moron. I was backing him, but now that's gone. That has NEVER worked in the NFL. Name one super bowl team that did it that way, dare ya.
