Cowboys goal with the 12th pick

The Cowboys will pick a defensive end (Green/Peirce) or Jeanty/Hampton if you listen to what he is saying. Non of the receivers fit the offensive playmaker he is looking for.
1. If they pick one of those pass rushers, they BETTER be later in the draft and not with #12 (with a trade down), wouldn't be like the Cowboys to not get a player who has character concerns!!

2. Why get a WR with play making abilities when we have Mingo/Flournoy/Tolbert who we "fill strongly about!" lol

At this point, I don't care which position they take with the 12th pick, as long as he comes in year one and makes an impact. No more developmental guys like Guyton, Taco, or Mazi. Also, no guys with a history of injuries or medical problems like Vander Esch.
Best post of your career, totally agree!! Sure as hell don't want to hear he needs time to develop, or even he's only PLAYED a certain amount of games in his career but has potential!!

ISOLATION

i get this you take a Tackle he's 1 v 1 most of the time & he's an Outside in guy. you take a DL that can get you sacks, behind the line tackles & strip sacks. if one is there you take a offensive impact player WR / RB / TE and CB yes on defense. i get what he's saying you can find Center, Guard, Run stoppers, LB & Safeties later on UNLESS they are game changers then you have to pivot.

The Cowboys don’t care about character. Never did. Pierce and Green are probably the two best pass rushers in the draft over Carter. The problem with Cowboys receiving core ever since they traded Cooper is they don’t have a quality number two. Tolbert,Turpin, Mingo are fine at 3, 4, and 5. Cooks and Gallup where the problem.

I was starting to believe in him, he says the right things, but if you're not building the trenches you'll be on benches watching the good teams play in the beginning of the year
Coogs you just invented a new term for a time honored team building philosophy: “Having weak trenches in regular season = Sitting on benches in playoff season.”

I actually agree with him.

High first round picks should be spent on:

QB
WR
EDGE
CB

Every once in a while, when there is a generational player at the other positions (like Jeanty this year), those are the exceptions.

Im not taking a guard, center, or 1 tech in the top-10

Guyton - 1st, Beebe 3rd
Smith - 1st

Parsons - 1st
Mazi - 1st
Williams - 2nd
Kneeland - 2nd
Osa - 3rd

How much more investing can they do?

Out of 5 OL, 3 were day 1 or 2 picks. Martin was also a first.

On DL all four starters are day 1 and 2 picks.

Out of 9 possible starters in the trenches they invested 7 day 1/2 picks out of 9. It would have been 8 if Martin returned
I see you did your homework, and I agree. At some point they have to get some playmakers on this team - especially on offense. That is why I wouldn't be disappointed if the Cowboys go WR then RB in the first two rounds.

When and if Mazi and Guyton don't work out you have to move on from them.....and just 1 DT from the 1st rd in that whole list?

The problem is the reluctance to buy a starting interior lineman in free agency and address that weakness......buying a bunch of jags to fix the defensive line instead building from the inside out.

That helps narrow the focus and great points: DE, WR, CB are in play.

CB Will Johnson - could fall to 12
WR Tet Mc - could fall
WR M Golden - should be available - met with Dallas
DE James Pierce - should be available - Met with Dallas
why would t-mac fall, I think I did hear something about a video that popped up of him or something??

If you heard what he said. He wants to build from the outside in. What? No, we want to build the lines, that is how you win football games. Dominate the lines on both sides and you win. Did he even watch the Super Bowl?

This is Garrett all over again.

Jerry should do nothing but trade the 12th pick. If my GM hat is on, it goes as follows:

Call Denver at pick 12 and offer it up to Denver for picks 20 and 51.

When 20 comes along, and you still have 3 of McMillan, Burden, Egbuka or Golden on the board. You call LAR and trade our 20 for their 26 and 90 picks.

At 26 you will have BALT, DET and WASH next after you. You have to think at least one of the WR will still be left on draft board. But those 3 teams have other pressing holes to plug rather then WR. But Buffalo right after them, would have a hole to fill in their WR core. So you gamble and make one last small trade down to recoup a 4th rounder and trade #26 to WASH for their #29 and 4th round #128.

In my mock, I have just turned pick #12 into #29, #51, #90, #128. This to go along with #44 and #76 that I already had. That is 6 picks in the top 130 of the draft. My mock is as follows:

#29 - Matthew Golden (WR) Texas
#44 - Trey Amos (CB) Mississippi
#51 - Quinshon Judkins (RB) Ohio State
#76 - Carson Schwesinger (LB) UCLA
#90 - Brayden Swinson (Edge) LSU
#128 - Ty Robinson (DL) Nebraska
#149 - Jackson Slater (IOL) Sacramento State
#171 - Dillon Gabriel (QB) Oregon
#174 - Danny Stutsman (LB) Oklahoma
#204 - Jaylen Reed (S) Penn State
#211 - Ajani Cornelius (OT) Oregon
#239 - Jaylin Smith (CB) USC
#247 - Jaylin Lane (WR) Virginia Tech

Great offensive linemen and great defensive linemen make everyone playing behind them better than they otherwise would be. You won’t be disappointed. The idiot Cowboys will “go WR then RB in the first two rounds”.

I’ll bet the four teams that played in their respective conference championship games all select linemen with their 1st round pick.
