Cowboys goal with the 12th pick

We will know a few days .before the draft. Both Youmans and Slater new about the trades for Elam and Murray a day before they happened and hinted at it. I think Fisher? had the 1st rounder last 2 years. Do we have any DE under contract after next season other than Kneeland? I think it might be DE
I get they fact that they only have one under contract but should they use the 12th pick for a rotational player when you have
Parsons, Kneeland , Williams and Fowler ?

My best Mock Draft I have done has them going this route. I would love these picks even though they are sacrificing drafting in first 3 rounds CB and DL.

Round 1: Trade back to 19 and draft Golden (WR)
Round 2: 44th pick with Hampton RB
Round 3: 73rd pick and Demetrius Knight Jr. (LB) falls to the Cowboys.
Round 4: 121 pick and Deone Walker (DT) with the pick from the trade back.
Round 5: Anthony Belton (OL)

Rest of rounds are mix of CB, OL, and S

I had the same question. But they did the same with Kneeland last year when D-Law was still in the fold. They took Lamb after spending a first on Cooper. I know it isn't a direct correlation with a top 12 pick. But with Schotty suggesting a build from the outside in, I think it's more likely they go defense than offence. Especially when they also tend to alternate between defense and offence with their 1st round picks and coming off drafting Guyton in the 1st round last year. And whispers around the star that they like Johnson and Williams. Just trying to read the tea-leaves. Maybe it's corner though, having drafted Kneeland last year.

This pick should be a day one starter and no project, like when picking in the late 20’s like we heard from Mazi and Taco Bell picks and will need years before they ball out.

They can say whatever they want, but if they don’t get a wr 2 in round 1, they will likely be stuck with non producing Tolbert as #2 again. We need a WR who can get open more than we need RG, CB, DT, or RB. There doesn’t appear to be anything special after round 1 at wr, just projects.

I agree. We can still find starting quality RG, CB, DT and/or RB in the 2 and 3 rds, there is a significant drop in WRs after the first 4 IMO.

We have a QB that is mobile and has a strong arm, who are you referring to?

Unfortunately at 12 this year it sounds like you are likely getting a player with a 2nd round grade so will potentially not be a bonified starter

Just our luck at 12th.
Yeah, i think it was broadus I was listening to that said he had something like 10 players with first round grades and then it was super heavy 2 3 4, sounds like there will be cheap trade ups available but on the trade down won't get as much value.

Might have to be OK getting a round less to drop back to 20ish...also could mean potential to trade back a couple of times or out of the 1st entirely if they could get near the top of the 2nd.

I guess the good thing is they have a lot of holes and will get a lot of good mid round d talent
