He is certainly risky, but he would be playing for a contract and be motivated.

At this point, if they are/were considering Pickens (would be surprising w/Coach Schott's character speech), might as well call up rehab man Calvin Hill, and see if he can work any magic on Dionte Johnson who is a free agent. Prob not possible but he'd be an easier addition to cut if he don't act right. And yes, this is the state of wr on the team are at this point

It’s also the reason I have a hard time believing the Cowboys would want to trade for Pickens given the fact they’d probably have to extend him immediately to make it worth their while. For a team that likes to act like we’re paupers, I’m skeptical it’s what they have in mind.

Also, more explicitly, in the Day 3 post draft presser, Jerry specifically mentioned they still are open to acquiring a No. 2 WR in free agency. Which really means we’d be looking at the veteran street FAs like Cooper or Keenan Allen.

I don't mind bringing back Cooper. He might be done (I don't know) but it's better than sitting on our hands and believing what we've got is just going to be good enough.

He only caught 20 passes in eight games (four starts) for Buffalo last year after the trade, for 297 yards. But he totaled 44 for 547 in 14 games. That was coming off a 1,250 season in 15 games the previous year. Maybe he's hit the wall, but 2022 and 2022 were good seasons for him. And even at the wall, he might be better than anything we've got.

Green Bay is not cutting or trading any of those young receivers. One of them just tore his ACL while another one has concussion issues.

Pickens definitely has talent. Can’t say I’m a fan of his professionalism, which would seem to be at odds with the push to put together a culture focused team.

He’s a diva WR, which seems to often be a part of their makeup, but I’m just not down for dealing with it.

I agree, but I wonder what Coach Shotty thought about the Playmaker, Charles Haley, or Dez? All 3 absolutely cared about football. All talented. But they were no choirboys either.

In the case of the Playmaker, he was a major contributor to winning 3 of the Cowboys 5 Lombardi trophies. It didn't bother Jimmy one bit to have him or Haley in his locker room.

Not saying Pickens is of the caliber of the Playmaker, but you don't pass on talent because a player is passionate about the game he loves.

He'd be a fantastic WR2 for CeeDee and put us right on par with the Eagles IMO. Sign me up.

What did that accomplish?
Even a Ced Wilson at the WR4 on the same squad.

Just mayyyyyybe it might not matter about WR2 production as much as some of you think.

It accomplished a great deal considering the defense was rock bottom.
It's like saying what good did TO do in Dallas; we didn't win anything.

It's a team game, and you have to be able to do more than just score points. You have to be able to run the ball to eat clock, to slow the pass rush, to keep the other team off the field, to help the OL and receivers. You have to be able to stop the run no matter how many sacks to you get.

I'm just hoping that this coach can convince Jerry that you have to have a balanced team.
