Yes. This is what I'm talking about. I've always said that I'd rather be watching a struggling team that is young, rather than an "old" team.

JG has made this roster young. Now the question is will the young guys step up?

good point, now no more cap crippling contracts that strap us to players. They need to place more value on the concepts of leverage and flexibility imo

i can't be the only one that gets scared when the main man is 34..that's "elder" in football years.

This is definitely one of the things we are doing right, getting younger and moving on from older guys. And half of our "older" guys are pretty darn solid players so nothing wrong with having that extra veteran/leader presence.

Id rather have crap in the first half of their career than crap in the last half.

Don't think JG was the decision maker on that.

That's right, when we dish out blame it's on Jerry ( Myself as well) but credit to others. Jerry should have the credit as well, could be Stephen hand wringing Jerry but slowly they are not renewing or letting go over the hill past prime players.

Of all the things this team has done recently, this is one that I definitely agree with.

We have had many many opportunities to bring in veteran players for this season who would be better short term options than the inexperienced guys we currently have. But the front office stuck to their guns.

They weren't panicking to bring in experienced help during free agency, and they aren't going to start now. I always laugh to myself when I see threads suggesting we should pick up such and such veteran player since he's better in the short term. That's clearly not happening right now with this front office. I think this team finally has the foresight to stick with and develop their young guys in house, and for that I applaud them.

Now whether they can actually develop these guys or not... The jury is still out.

Honestly we should have a balance of seasoned players, younger talent and the somewhere in between crowd. I'm hopeful next year we can add some proven defensive talent from free agency. If we were to rely solely on our defensive youth to develop and mature without adding some experienced players, we could be seeing Romo and Witten both retiring before our defense can realistically get us to the Show. We really need to turn this defense around before Romo retires. High caliber experienced QB's don't just fall of trees.

I don't see Romo or Witten going into retirement unless they got cut by the team. You might see another five years out of them.

Well, they will claim to be retiring when the truth of the matter is the team will be looking to cut them. I too doubt they would play for another team. As for 5 years, let's hope so, so long as they are still performing. Romo maybe, but Witten is a man who takes a beating.

each of them need to be replaced as soon as possible. I like Romo and respect Witten like no other, but nothing lasts forever. At some point you get replacements, not backups, on the team and you move on. The problem with the Cowboys is that they typically cut or release a player and THEN try to find a replacement.
