Great job presenting FACTS!!! But here's the part where the low IQ haters of the world will move the goal posts and claim "stats don't matter".

"Low IQ haters".....you would get more respect without your childish insults.

Another point I would like to make is do we really need to spend money on OBJ?

Wouldn't that money be better used on extending the contract of a player that most likely contributed significantly to the Cowboys offensive power, Tony Pollard?
Agreed if OBJ refuses to accept a team friendly deal somewhere around $2-$3 million the rest of this season, plus incentives.

Also, the Cowboys should talk to Zeke after this season ends and ask him to take half of his scheduled $16 million/year remaining contract. This way the other $8 million can be used to resign Tony Pollard. Would seem fair thar both RBs get paid $8 million/year going forward. If Zeke refuses, time to let him go or trade him. It hurts but the team trying to better manage its salary cap comes first.

My biggest concern is that if he has OBJ then KM will abandon the run. The way we used Pollard as a mini-Deebo was pure class.

Moore deserves credit for sure. That doesn’t mean he’s been great. But I’m also not sure what to blame him for because not playing Pollard more may not be his call.
I've been critical of Moore for not making defenses defend the whole field and every player on it. Before our game against the Vikings, there were no swing passes, no go routes and no design QB runs. Moore incorporated all three of those things, I just mentioned, against the Vikings and look how many points we scored. He really kept the defense off balance in that game. But, I'd still like to see four swing passes a game, four go routes a game, and four design QB runs a game.

Well it would help our team out if they don't commit 14 or 15 penalties against the 49ers in the playoffs again. I'm pretty sure teams don't win playoff games with that many penalties.
Teams don't make penalties because they want to.
They do so because of lack of technique, strength, speed, intellect, etc.
All those traits factor into whether your defense is great or not.

Meaning ... when a guard or a tackle moves before the snap, it's usually an indication of lack of concentration or thinking "I need to get out of my stance quicker because (Micah Parson) is fast so I need to be at X spot before he gets there" or "(Myles Garrett) is too strong, so I need to hold him for an extra second otherwise my quarterback is toast."

Or Randy Gregory getting a penalty for tackling the Niners offensive lineman on fourth down, giving the San Fran a first down, critical time we needed for a comeback.

Gregory didn't INTENTIONALLY set out to commit a penalty. But at that moment, the Niners got the best of him intellectually, physically and emotionally. And because he wasn't equipped to handle his continual beating, he lashed out and got a costly penalty.

Penalties come because a team is insufficient at stopping an opponent.

It's no wonder that the worst teams are the most penalized.

So, I would conclude that the Niners were the better team because they FORCED us into penalties.

Are the Cowboys only #1 during the past 4 games because they padded their total with that 40 points against the Vikings?

Okay, let's say the score was lower, high 20's, we'll say 27-3.

The Cowboys would still be the #1 scoring offense during the past 4 games. That's how much they separated themselves from the rest of the offenses in this league.

First, good thread.

Second, I guess many of us are "jaded" because we've seen this before, the crowing before the crash.

In 2021, the Dallas Cowboys had the No. 1 ranked offense scoring an average of 31.2 points a game. Against the 49ers (in the playoffs), they scored 17.

I personally thought the Cowboys were mentally beaten before the game based on the "fear" I saw in their eyes as they walked through the tunnel towards the field.

Be that as it may, I think it's hard for many of us to get "this" out of our heads.

I do believe we have an offense that can carry us far, but I just don't trust this coaching staff, particularly Kellen Moore. :(

I just saw where the NFL put in a new rule that states in the 1st round of the playoffs, the losing team will be awarded the win if they led the NFL in scoring for the 2nd half of the season. That is good news.

Let’s see how that stat holds up when we face the Bucs or 49ers again in the playoffs if we make it. Pretty sure that top scoring offense falters to any defense ranked above 15th place
You also said we had no chance of beating Minnesota so this probably means we are going to light up a top 15 defense.

Well there goes the notion then that OC Moore sucks.
The most impressive part here is that he was able to win with both QB's. Yes I know the Defense played a big part (well, duh!), but I really enjoyed how he adapted to the strengths and weaknesses of Cooper Rush. And the second most impressive part is that he somehow apapted yet again to Daks play in a way to keep cool and not go guns blazing again. Those four scoring drives in a row against the Bears were really cool.

So let's hope he learned how to adapt (in contrast to last season) and keeps doing it.

When you think about it, alot of stuff has improved compared to last season. Versatility, run game, defense as a whole, individual guys... of course all this will be worthless if they go like one and out in the play offs again, but so far it's a nice trend.

Do you have the corresponding rankings for the defenses Cooper played vs. the defenses Dak has played?

To be fair, you would have to do it for all 32 teams to have an overall comparison weighted for strength of defense played. Then you would have to adjust for injuries...and so on and so forth...at the end of the day, there are too many variables to get an accurate comparison.

Man, I could’ve sworn that I read somewhere around here that Cooper Rush was the better quarterback. It’s getting so that you can’t believe everything you read on that there interweb.
Could’ve used 1 more in the 4th quarter against green bay huh?

I remember when a hockey team from Dallas won the President's Cup for having the most goals during the regular season, then that same high stats team was knocked out in the playoffs.

Stats matter if your team is consistent, as in throughout the season, against good teams, and against bad teams.

Cowboys...always with the potential for Greatness:

IF the Refs don't play against us.

IF we don't run up penalties on ourselves.

IF....

IF the Cowboys can play and be coached with consistent Greatness, then the Cowboys don't have to depend on the other team beating themselves. The Cowboys can do that job, beating the other team.

Does anyone notice though we’re not having dak sit back there in the pocket all the time. We’re actually using some rpos and read option plays to go along with our run game.

against this oline and with daks size those types of plays should be impossible for a defense to stop.

Very happy we’ve been doing it

When you combine the data for the games #7 to #10 for all teams, it turns out that the Cowboys are #1 in points scored. They are #6 in total yardage. They are best scoring offense in the NFL at this particular point in time, starting from Dak's return.

When you look at the same data for games #2 to #6, when Cooper Rush was the starter, the Cowboys were ranked 19th in points scored and 27th in total yardage.

Pretty sure that’s why they are the best. They do that to most everyone. Do you understand this simple fact or does it escape you?

Or, you can use the stats that correspond with the stats the original poster used.
