RELEASED Cowboys have released cornerback Trevon Diggs

No one was trading for him. His play aside his pay exceeds his talent at this point
Correct. Trade would only make sense for a team that likes the contract he's currently locked into. He's got with roster bonus around 3 years 57 million which nobody will trade for that contract.

Thank about it, why would you give up draft capital for the rights to that contract when you can be the highest bidder in the offseason for less money ?

To everyone complaining we didn't trade him... What would we have got, a 7th? Probably would have to throw in our in pick to have someone take his contract.

You know I love this and we've seen a little bit of this from Jerry this year which we have never seen before. He is at least signing off on cutting players that are not working out in the cowboy's best interest. Jerry needs to approve more of this

The whole league has Jerry on "sucker" speed dial. Unfortunately, Jerry can't trade with himself.
Pretty sure Jerry's made some good trades as well Amari Cooper and more recently that other guy named George Pickens the 3rd was a steal for this guy

so I don't see where the sucker was occasionally Jerrys made a bad trade, but he's also brought over guys like Brandon Cooks and Gilmore for 5th round picks,

so come on dude it works both ways, There are other teams also that couldn't get anything for players like Deandre Hopkins was it when he left Arizona, they couldn't get any offers for him, he turns out he was a still had a lot of tread left on his tires...

Not just Jerry...

I would think that Diggs has enough time accrued that he would not be subject to waiver claims. Am I thinking incorrectly?

I know that’s sort of a side issue to the Cowboys unceremoniously chopping him during the season (and the cap ramifications of that) but I was curious about the waiver issue.

My guess is he could have claimed he was injured which would have required an injury settlement, so they had to wait until he returned and likely played a game to release him to avoid that.
It sure seems that way.

I questioned why they would risk putting him on the field at all after they were eliminated from the playoffs.

This must be why.

The relationship has to be incredibly toxic to do it now.

Eagles will get him. Or GB
Correct on a better defense you can hide his flaws telling the play man you got teams like that could put pressure up front he doesn't have to Cover for as long..

That's exactly the two teams I think that would risk going after him right before the playoffs because they need help back there...

I believe that if any player is released after the trade deadline they’re subject to waivers.

Exactly

Just not the same player post knee injuries. Add in his lousy me first attitude and. I guarantee money left, he was a goner. Did him a favor as he can latch on with a playoff team now
