Ah, forgot about Maponga. He's got to be the target I would think.

Maponga is definitely intriguing. A little shorter than you would like a DE to be, but otherwise all the physical tools are there. Probably should have stayed in school another year too.

Boyce ran high 4.3 with a busted toe.

He also put up 22 bench reps which I believe was the second highest of any WR. I like Boyce because I think he'd be equally as good if not better in the slot as outside. I view him as all the things Dallas wanted Ogletree to be.

TCU's top two NFL prospects this year are hopeful they'll hear their names called in the top-100 picks, but both wide receiver Josh Boyce and defensive end Stansly Maponga are dealing with foot injuries that could affect their draft stock.

With 28 teams in attendance at the Horned Frogs pro day on Thursday in Fort Worth, Texas, Boyce was forced to watch from the sidelines, but Maponga was able to work out. Dozens of scouts and NFL representatives were in attendance, including several positional coaches like the Eagles' wide receiver coach Bob Bicknell and the Steelers' linebacker coach Keith Butler.

Maponga was held out of combine drills in Indianapolis due to the foot injury, but decided to run on Thursday, performing well in the 40-yard dash (4.84, 4.85), short shuttle (4.37) and three-cone drill (7.38). He decided to stand on his bench press number from the combine (30 reps).

Maponga revealed Thursday that he will “probably” need surgery soon due to a stress fracture in his left foot, the reason he wasn't able to work out in Indianapolis. He plans to get a second opinion and added that he had the same procedure done two years ago on his right foot.

Boyce had surgery Tuesday and was on crutches. As Rob Rang reported Wednesday night, Boyce has a fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot, an injury he sustained during combine drills, which makes his performance in Indianapolis even more impressive. At the combine he was among the position leaders in the 40-yard dash (4.38), three-cone drill (6.68), long shuttle (11.26), bench press (22 reps) and broad jump (10-feet-11-inches).

Boyce is expected to be sidelined six to eight weeks as he rehabs his foot.

Other results from TCU's pro day on Thursday:
-- Running back Matthew Tucker matched his 40-yard dash time from the combine with a 4.55 on Thursday. He stood on his bench press (17 reps), vertical jump (35-5) and broad jump (9-10-) numbers from Indianapolis, but he did run the short shuttle (4.44) and three-cone drill (7.14) for scouts on campus.

-- Offensive guard Blaize Foltz didn't receive a combine invite so he performed several drills at Thursday's pro day. He did the 40-yard dash (5.33, 5.38), short shuttle (4.83), three-cone drill (7.56), vertical jump (25-5) and the 225-pound bench press (33 reps).

-- Wide receiver Skye Dawson doesn't look like much (5-foot-9, 162), but he showed off his speed at TCU's pro day, recording his 40-yard dash times at 4.39 and 4.40. He caught passes from former TCU and current Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton.

Pro Day Tour: TCU’s Maponga Intriguing At Defensive End
Posted 6 hours ago

Bryan Broaddus

IRVING, Texas – With the NFL Combine wrapped up, scouts, coaches and managers around the league will now turn their attention to college Pro Days to see how future draft picks measure out and test.

For athletes who’d like to have performed better at the Combine and for those who didn’t go to the Combine at all, these individual Pro Days allow college standouts another opportunity to demonstrate what they can bring to the table for a professional club.

The DallasCowboys.com staff will travel around the Dallas area the next few weeks leading into the NFL Draft to see first-hand how some of the local athletes looked in person.

Today, former scout Bryan Broaddus made his first stop on the Pro Day Tour at TCU.

Top Pick(s): Defensive end Stansly Maponga measured 6-2, 251. He ran two 40 yard dashes for the scouts with times of 4.84 and 4.85. His vertical jump 29.5”and 9’6” on the broad jump. His 20 yard shuttle was 4.37, 60 yard shuttle was 12.72. His 3 cone was 7.38. Wide receiver Josh Boyce did not workout due to a recent foot surgery. His Combine workout was quite impressive, so that should help him as he recovers.

Maponga is a tweener and not in a good sense. He is a bit small for DE. He isn't comfortable in space like a LB. He didn't show the kind of explosive athletic ability desired in an edge rusher. He now also have a very bad foot condition.

It doesn't sound like he is even worth a draft pick unless he can at least demonstrate good health.

I am not convinced he has a position in the NFL. He kind of looks like a poor man's Victor Butler with a bum foot.

I think Maponga has a better Motor than Victor Butler.. not to mention Victor was a 4th round pick.. I wouldn't use a 4th on Maponga but if we could snatch him up in the 6th or 7th I would be happy with that.

Stansly Maponga, TCU DE, said he may need surgery to repair a broken pinkie toe. Maponga said he has spoken to Dallas Cowboys.

TCU DE Stansly Maponga likely will have to have foot surgery on his left foot. He has a stress fracture in his fifth metatarsal.

This makes sense... Another player that would be drafted higher if not for a current injury. Current cowboy philosophy of finding good talent at a discount. It's not a bad philosophy as long as its not a prelude to a player being injury prone. Despite being great value, the jury is still out on Lee and Carter. Matt Johnson is also questionable.
