Never trust a proday or college hand time. Combine he ran a 4.46 which was still very good, but looking at his tape he doesn't show that kind of speed with pads on.

Looks like Hines Ward type WR to me.
You can see the same style of play in highlight reels. Nothing special, but tough reliable play.

I am, of course, not blaming you for the scouting report, but this idea that he doesn't speed certainly doesn't jibe with the fact that he's been clocked @ 4.34 in the 40:

.... one of these reports is inaccurate.

One thing's for certain, though: he's strong-as-hell for a WR!

Plus this:

... ran a 4.35 at his pro-day.

Seems plenty fast to me.

Send him DEEP a couple a three times per game :)
Stretch that defense.

40 times are poor guages of speed. A 4.3 guy can run 4.3 all day in his underwear but throw about 20 lbs of protective gear on him and that 4.3 guy may now run a 4.5. This is not a constant but there are guys out there that run slow 40 times but do not run considerably slower geared out. So 4.4 guy may run 4.5 with all his gear. Now through in fatigue and the 4.3 guy that is now running .2 slower has to exert himself more to maintain his top speed of 4.5 where as the 4.4 guy does not need as much. Fatique is where the burst gets lost.

4.3, 4.5 who cares he's got enough speed, can he ball is the question.

You know Indy needs a WR badly after losing Reggie Wayne for the season. May be a timely signing for us!

WEAKNESSES - Sampson is a slow-twitch athlete that lacks burst in and out of his breaks and struggles to separate naturally. He does not use his hands well against press coverage and is too easily knocked off his line by physical defenders. He doesn't consistently run routes at full speed, which makes it easy for his man to predict his line. He does not display the deep speed needed to stretch the field vertically.
Not to dwell on the negatives, but this doesn't sound like an NFL player to me.

Never trust a proday or college hand time...

Why does this never sink in? It's befuddling. It's not like hand timing could be inaccurate. Or that anybody has a vested interest in players being fast at a pro day. Or that conditions don't vary enough from field to field that you can't get a baseline relative to the competition.
