While the Cowboys had some momentous marks in 2022 making the playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2006 and 2007 also winning our first road playoff game since 1992 we also set and continued some futility marks as well.

First Cowboys team to have consecutive 12 win seasons without a championship game appearance. And if we make the playoffs again without a championship appearance will not only continue that mark with first Cowboys team to make playoffs 3 consecutive seasons( regardless our record) without at least a championship appearance.

The biggest futility mark we currently own is the longest draught in NFL history for Divisional Round appearances without a Championship Game appearance. Currently stands at 7.

Cowboys have a ton of moneys to get off their backs. And this doesn’t include the monkeys on our owners back as well as those on our QB’s.

It’s looking like until we finally knock down the Championship Game door after almost 3 decades which is currently the biggest monkey on the Cowboys back, the futility marks will continue. Our owner has already set this as the expectation for 2023. The time is now !!

I'm quite hopeful that the upcoming season will reveal some important improvements that should elevate the standings for this year's Cowboys team. Sure, some adjustments will be due to be made but that holds true for each and every season to be had for them. Having new coaches with valuable experience coming into the program this year will surely be one of the adjustments that figures into their plans.

Yet another series of adjustments will be made for the new talents that are due to come into the picture for 2023. Deuce Vaughan was the most productive collegiate RB from the line of scrimmage last year -- surely that should offer some semblance of encouragement for his success as our new rookie RB. Malik Davis is yet another youngster who should serve the RB depth admirably if last year's limited showings are any clue at all.

Defensively, the defensive line should be well served by the presence of Mazi Smith -- a physically gifted DT if there ever was one. Let's not discount the secondary group of backs who are apparently as talented as this team has seen in decades. Young LBs with talent will surely be present, also.

I'll venture a guess that the monkeys that have rested upon the backs of some Cowboys' talents of last season will be sent packing in 2023. ;)

What if two of those monkeys are PHL and SF being better teams?

There is too much improvement in a vacuum thinking. These other teams are not standing pat.

I think DAL is the 3rd best team in the NFC but what if they’re 4th or 5th. Anyone ready for that?

Yep, a real possibility.

Finally getting these Monkeys off our back begins with winning the division.

It’s a very tough road having to win 2 games on the road in the playoffs just to make Championship game . Much less 3 to a Super Bowl.

If we end up 5th seed or lower I wouldn’t expect to meet our expectations for 2023.

TO begin with, we did not make momentous strides last season. Not baby steps but not big ones either. Beating a crap Bucs team on the road was not something to boast about.
SF eating our lunch and dinner two years in a row is the BIG monkey right now.
Not the HUGE monkey of no Championship game appearances and the monster monkey of no SB appearances and the GODZILLA sized monkey of no SB wins in 28 years

I will throw a carrot to the (why is happy fan deleted).

We MIGHT be where we were in 1968. Hoping the curse of the packers was over. 2 straight championship game appearances and narrow losses

Unfortunately, Lombardi has not just left the Packers. And SF is NOT the Packers of the 60's.

But we were only two years from our first SB appearance.

So maybe we only have to wait two more years....

I am astounded at the censorship in the software by the way...

What if Philly and SF don't have good years and Dallas is 1st? That could happen as easily as them being 3rd, 4th, or 5th.

Could happen but I don’t agree with “happen as easily”.

There is some perception that DAL improved from last year but no evidence of that.

But PHL lost their two coordinators and best pass rusher so there are ?’s about them as well.

And SF could have QB challenges.

Evidence, they added Cooks, Gilmore, and Mazi Smith.

I was just providing some carrot before the stick . Regardless the impressiveness of the strides made last year they were notable.

I am, and honestly I don't think we make the playoffs this season.
That’s not a popular stance to take . While I’m not going to predict it wouldn’t surprise me. A Dak injury or other key injuries to OL or Pollard offensively and it suffers . Don’t know if defense could overcome .

Plus I think there are other teams who could have improved more than us .

I will say this . If we don’t win our division a deeper playoff run looks bleak .

This is a good team.

If you can’t get pumped up for the upcoming season in which anything can happen, why bother?

Yes we they need some things to go right but every team does.

They aren’t going to get a whole lot better than this in the cap era.

If you prefer to wait for the next Mahomes to fall into our laps, fine. Enjoy that.

For now, I consider a good team as improved with the vet additions, and the almighty SF and Phil aren’t exactly unbeatable.

Hargraves was not Philly's best pass rusher. He was 3rd in sacks. His production should easily be replaced by Carter and Smith.

It seems that when the Cowboys are over-hyped, that's when they under-perform.
