Cowboys hosting OL Joe Looney

Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Cowboys are hosting free agent OL Joe Looney for a visit.

This is the first reported interest in Looney since the free agent market opened over three weeks ago.

Looney, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2012. He spent three years in San Francisco before he was unfortunately among the team’s final roster cuts at the start of the 2015 season.

Martin is a 'newby' in the offensive line makeup. I assume that this is a check to remove some of the time and energies involved with getting Martin up to speed as a backup center. He can develop those skills over a few years, and change needs. But for a Pro Bowl lineman, I can see the Cowboys' current directions. It would improve the depth, and take away yet another need position for a drafted selection.

No reason not to do both. Ideally you want a young guy to come in and take a job. Not like Looney is going to get a huge guarantee or anything
