Cowboys inactives

Without Butler bombing downfield just became that little bit harder for Dak

Bryant has six 20+ receptions from 115 targets
Williams has six 20+ receptions from 64 targets
Butler has five 20+ receptions from 22 targets

With Butler it's better

What's the deal with him? He seems to make some big plays when he gets opportunities but the coaching staff is really down on him. I thought it would have been worth a shot to try and get him more time when the offense was in desperate need of a spark.

This year he has 13 catches in 13 games. Not exactly a big hole to fill whether his fault or not.

You forgot to mention he averages over 20 yards a catch. That makes him more difficult to replace than someone like Williams who makes 4 times as many catches with less than double the number of yards per game..

I didn't forget to mention it. If you have a running back who carries it for 30 yards per carry, but only carries once every 4 games, it doesn't matter on a game-by-game basis.

Now, if the guy had 10 or more touchdowns, it would be different. He has 2. He has 13 catches. Again, maybe not his fault, but I would happily trade 2 10-yard catches by Brown or Switzer over one 20-yard catch every 2.6 games.

Also, since he only catches a 20-yard pass once every 2.6 games, that means there's an 80% chance he wouldn't do that this game even if he played.

activating ross means they are more concerned with stopping the run tonight. Neal inactive for the bigger ross.

So...our playoff hopes are riding on

I think I'm gonna vomit. You go Rod Marinellie:thumbup:

As opposed to Williams who has none, on many more receptions. Your 82% statistic is wrong, btw.

But you're missing the point of the statistics, they're not there to show which WR is better. Butler is harder to replace because he makes big plays. He's a big play player. While you may find it more valuable for Brown and Switzer to make multiple short games, replacing them would be easier. But finding a guy who can be a deep ball threat is harder and Butler being inactive will make it harder for Dak to throw downfield.

Floaty, have your nurse close your laptop. We don't need your damn negativity tonight.

I already gave Winicki and staff a picture of Alexander. He's not getting in either.

Go. Cowboys.

Actually, my 80% stat (which I had updated) is accurate. He catches a 20-yard+ pass every 2.6 games, which is 20% of the games. That means he has an 80% chance of NOT catching a 20-yard+ pass every game.

I never said Williams was better. I never said anyone was better. What I am saying is that Butler is not much of an issue this year for the offense or the other team's defense. The guy has 13 catches in 13 games. The fact you arguing for a guy who has 13 catches in 13 games is mind boggling. Again, may not be his fault, but it doesn't matter.

He was a better player and performer last year. This year, he hasn't been. He doesn't stretch the field because he's not an every game threat. A receiver who catches a 20-yard pass every 2.6 games is not something the defense is going to be overly concerned about, and yet he only has 5 of them.

Just a question. When is the last time Butler have a huge play?
