Don't know how reliable Rappaport is but he mentioned this earlier on Gameday.

Doesn't make a ton of sense, even if it was for a 6th or 7th round draft choice.

We have Dunbar, Randle, and Williams on the PS, and we're hardly using them. I think there is the idea that he is good in a zone blocking scheme though.

If true though it doesn't bode well for any of our running backs, including Murray.

Hoping to be half the man Tom Landry was.

I don't see it either. If we were going to trade for someone during the season, I would think it would be an impactful defensive player.

I'm guessing the Cowboys see Spiller as an upgrade over Dunbar and Randle.

Crazy, I know.

It's not crazy, but I don't know if making a trade would be worth it. There would almost certainly be an odd man out at running back and it would almost have to be Randle.

I wouldn't be furious if they got him for cheap enough, but he isn't the cheapest backup either just from a salary cap standpoint. It would make sense if they don't think Randle or Dunbar are true backups though and they don't trust Murray to stay healthy.

Personally I'd rather roll with what we have and start lessening the load for Murray.

Probably just doing their due diligence. The likely heard that Buffalo might be willing to part with Spiller and Dallas had liked Spiller coming out of the draft. So, they made a call and asked what they were wanting... which was likely too rich for our blood, so we passed.

It is nothing more than Dallas wanting to churn the roster. The chance to maybe add a more talented player to the team and then let the less talented player go. Jimmy Johnson did it and I love when the team is that way.

I am guessing Dallas knows how to check contract status and see Spiller makes about 3 times what Randle and Dunbar make combined....
He is at 3.5m this year and that is not counting his bonus (over 4m still counting) which Buffalo would have to eat to move him.

The report is silly like most of that dude's stuff.

Even if they saw Spiller as an eventual Murray replacement for cheaper the guy is only signed thru 2015 so buys you nothing but one year.

Dallas has proven quite willing to just draft mid round backs and this team could swing for an earlier round guy and let Murray walk knowing they'll get draft pick compensation.

Randle is tied up thru 2016 but it makes no sense for Dallas to give him up since he won't even cost 775k in 2016.
Dallas even has Ryan Williams on the practice squad.

RB is probably the best and deepest position on the football team.

When they are calling about a starting safety or pass rusher I'll believe it.

I would be angry if we traded for him. You want to pay him +6 million annually (top 10 RB money) but not Murray? lol

Spiller can get cut for all I care. He ain't worth the contract and he STILL can't beat out fragile Fred Jackson. Speaks worlds to me.

I like spiller but I wouldn't want him on this current team. We have a similar and cheaper back in Dunbar that we don't use really. While spiller is better than Dunbar and would bring an explosive kick return game I still say no thanks.

Finally, the voice of reason.
