Hard to imagine we could go interior DL that early in the draft. If we are looking for a rotation guy with Rat I would think we could get someone on Saturday.

He won't last until the 3rd. Big bodies with quickness just don't last that long, they are tough to find and they get scooped up quick. I don't care what is value is he'll get picked fairly quickly in the 2nd IMO.

Then let him go. No reason to reach on him, let other teams do it. I'm all for drafting him in the 3rd but no way is he better than the other players that will be available at 40.

or.....trade back into the 2nd to get him if he is the player you covet.

or stay at 40 and take another player who is higher on your board that you also covet. I would rather trade up into the bottom of the 2nd than to trade back from 40. There might be some good CBs and OGs at 40 that could be day one starters for us.

Hope he lasts to our 3rd rounder or we make some magic work to get him, I'm a big fan of his play.

To me, he'd be worth the pick at 40 but because of his character issues and our many holes, it'd be tough for me to justify taking him there.

I think the Pats would gladly scoop him with late in the 2nd, so we might have to make a move to land him.

The talent is there to warrent a 2nd round pick but the off the field issues is what scare me a little...

Why? Did you not see Ratliff getting shoved around constantly last year? Run defense was no better than the pass defense. Which means lots of room for improvement.

You can get wide bodies with some quickness later if you want one.

Its true, I like Ellis but not at 40.
I can get Chries Nield or Ian WIlliams. Both would be great run stuffing NTs. Ellis brings more of a pass rush thats why he is rated higher but 40 is to high for him when you have better players at positions of a bigger need that will be there at 40.

Unless we're going to spend more time with 4 down lineman than some think:)

If you put this kid next to rat there might be some OL issues.

Im almost positive Rat is going to be moved to the outside. I'd be all for the move. He'd be a better fit on the outside in a traditional 34 D. Ellis and Brent would make a nice rotation at NT.

So how much of a difference is worth a second vs a fourth?

I said nothing about taking him in the 2nd round.

I've been saying he'd be my first choice at 71 all along.
