Yesterday, I mentioned defensive back Eric Rowe was making an assault north up draft boards and is a favorite of the Philadelphia Eagles. I'm told he looked terrific in position drills yesterday and was smooth as well as athletic. I've been told for weeks his schedule is bulging at the seams with visits and workouts. This week alone, prior to yesterday's pro day, Rowe had worked out for the Houston Texans, a workout which Marvin Lewis sat in on, had a private workout with the Cleveland Browns who sent their defensive backs coach to Utah to have dinner with Rowe, and met with the Dallas Cowboys at length the day prior to pro day. More on Rowe's schedule later.

Utah DB Eric Rowe "is flying up draft boards and most feel there's no way he gets out of the second round," reports TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline.
Last week, Pauline reported Rowe had visits scheduled with the Dolphins, Ravens and Lions, and now he passes along that the Philadelphia Eagles "are very high on Rowe, who's drawing intrigue based on his size/speed and ability to line-up at either cornerback or safety." The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Rowe ran a 4.45 40 at the combine.Mar 27 - 2:46 AM

I like him as a potential FS of the future. I wouldn't count on him to be an immediate starter at CB like I would Marcus Peters.

Wouldn't mind him with a day two pick, probably could be used right away in substitution packages, possibly even as our nickelback, then we start to make him our free safety over the next few years, sounds good to me.

I like him but he's going to get overdrafted....Wouldn't surprise me if he went in the 2nd. Josh Shaw is almost the same type of guy and wouldn't be a bad consolation prize a little later

Hell yes...............I want him in Big D. I also want Justin Cox.

I want to want Marcus Peters. I love his game, he is a playmaker and brings lots of swagger. However, he has some serious issues that I don't want to deal with. It is unfortunate, but I believe he is going to be the one who stands in the way of his own greatness.

I haven't seen Kevin Johnson play, but from everyone else's analysis, he is a very good prospect. I just don't want a CB in the 1st.

So give me Rowe and Cox in this draft, and then add a few pieces via UDFA, like S Thompson from Texas, and I will be very pleased.

You want Cox but Peters scares you off? Have you seen the massive red flags on Cox. I bet more teams have Cox off their board than Peters. He's a train wreck.

I haven't seen his red flags yet. Still, Peters is a 1st round prospect, Cox is a 4th or 5th round prospect, that is a huge difference.

I will have to look into the Cox red flags.....it will probably adjust my thinking, and if they are as bad as you say, then I might not even sign him as a UDFA if available.

Like Rowe a lot but not in the 2nd. Guy was a 4th rounder a month ago. Rather wait a bit and take Craig Mager. This kid can absolutely light up WRs and has elite speed/athleticism to go with very good size (just under 6-0, 205, 4.3).

Its likely he was a 4th rounder months ago because people only had amateur analysis to go by. He's "shooting up boards" because we're only now beginning to realize where he might have been on the professionals' boards all along. Demarcus Ware shot up boards as we got closer to the draft but that's only because Kiper et al weren't paying attention to Troy.

Yes, that's always the case. Guys like Kiper like to say that a prospect is rising or falling, but most prospect rankings by NFL teams probably don't change much between the end of the college season and the draft. I'm sure they change to some extent after the combine/Pro-Days, but they probably don't go from being a 5th rounder to a 2nd rounder.

I just saw that a media draft analyst had Rowe at #20 in a mock.

Rowe's first three seasons, IMO, were better then his Sr. season. He shared time at CB for a couple of games last year but he was pretty much a FS his first three years. Good player.
