I'm torn on Winston. We definitely need G and I would welcome him. But he played well in Houston's zone scheme. He didn't do as well with the Chiefs when he wasn't in his comfort zone. So I'm not sure how he would do...but couldn't hurt. One other neg I had on him while living in Houston was the guy was a media *****. If he could get in on an interview he would. This rubbed many people I know the wrong way because he would talk a big game and kind of rip on perceptions of the team but then they would fail. It was one of those "work on your game, not your post football career" deals. That is way down the list but just putting it out there. Considering our needs though, I definitely would take him for the right price.

I don't want him or any free agent RT this year. Plenty of good prospects in the draft, and I'm ready to begin the season with Parnell.

This. No way we make the same mistake that we made last year where we overkilled the CB position. We'll address the OL in the draft and if we fail to secure anybody decent then we might look at the FA market. We still have Parnell and Free (to the disdain of many a Cowboy fan) who could start for us.

FWIW, heard he has major bad knees. If any franchise takes a chance on him, I imagine it would be Miami. His brother, Matt Winston, is a scout for the Dolphins.

Lets see: Another year of Doug "the turnstyle" Free or a competent Eric Winston. Tough call.

His Brother, Miami really needs a RT and he played for Miami in college. If he doesn't end up in Miami, that probably says more then enough.

He's a player people have heard of.
He plays OL.

Therefore, we need him.

Plus he's got some quality to his game and we have a big fat hole at RT.

Saves us from burning a draft pick on someone.

Knowing that they were going to not retain Jenkins, it looks like they were thinking ahead by acquiring their two starting cbs.

i agree on starting parnell. but you still need a vet to be the swing guy. unless you take a ot high you are'nt gonna get a guy ready to play and the swing guy has to be ready to play. also if you think parnell can be a player you don't want to take a ot high in the draft
i don't think winston would be that guy. i think he will be fairly expensive but there are still some decent guys out there to be the swing guy

There are two guys projected somewhere between the 3rd and 5th rounds that I think are NFL ready as soon as they're recovered from injury.

Chris Faulk: He had a torn ACL in the 1st week of the 2012 college season. A college LT, he has decent quickness and good size at 6-5, 330.

Brennan Williams: He missed about half of the 2012 season with shoulder injury and is expected to be 100% recovered by training camp. He has decent quickness and good size at 6-6, 318. In game footage, he puts his man on the ground often.
