News: Cowboys' Jason Garrett deep in survival mode once again

FRISCO, Texas -- Six games into the 2019 NFL season, Dallas Cowboyscoach Jason Garrett is on the hot seat. Again.

It might not be a hot seat to owner and general manager Jerry Jones, who has the only opinion that matters, but it is to just about every follower of the Cowboys, tired of the sameness of the past eight-plus seasons as the team prepares for an NFC East showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC).

Is this the sixth time Garrett has been on the hot seat? Seventh? Eighth? Here we are again with Garrett's future becoming an even bigger story because of the Cowboys' three-game losing streak entering Sunday's first-place divisional meeting.

I found this quote in particular to be very interesting. Even the head coach understand this:

"How the players execute is a direct reflection on the coaches, and you have to just make sure, as a position group, coordinator, head coach, everybody who's involved in it, you have to make sure you're creating the right environment for them to take that work they do in practice to the game and execute it," Garrett said.

Agreed, there is some power struggle going on inside. The way Kellen was showcased in the league after the first three games, something had to spark something. Garrett is much better at jeopardizing someone's job than coaching football. I know this is speculation on my part, but the way the play calling has taken a turn back in to the Linehan era in the last three games, common sense dictates that something is up regardless of what Broaddus says.

Top 3 running back looking horrible. Prescott getting beat up so bad. This offensive line they're rebelling against something. Nothing to do with injuries. To do it hurt unhappy feelings. I've been watching this game too long something's not right

all I see is a hc who has never shown the capability to consistently adjust to the oppositions game plans. he's not in the least bit innovative or creative. he's boring in his personality and boring in his coaching. he is just as prone to like "yes" men as jerry jones. monte, Marinelli, and linehan are typical of the kinds of coordinators he prefers. he played for jimmy. but he learned nothing from jimmy about how to coach.

Always a risk I hear ya. However at the very least a new coach after JG sooner (even if they arent the right one) will get us to a right coach quicker rather than just wasting time with JG who we all know doesnt have what it takes to get us a SB.

This Philly game seems like the quintessential game Garrett pulls out of his *** whenever the vultures are circling, but something seems different about this season. This team almost feels soulless this year. I think Sunday is the beginning of the end for Garrett.

Tell that to the three 8-8 seasons with season ending losses vs division rivals (all of them). Or the times we went belly up with one injury (Romo, 2015) or suspension (Zeke, 2017). I give McClay & Co. credit for assembling talent, which has made it easier to win, but I don't give JG credit for using the talent correctly

This team has been acting weird lately but I get called crazy for calling it out. I don't know if it's Garrett or not, but something is off with this team. They don't look the same or act the same as they did last year or even this year past the first week or two. Something happened within The Star that we don't know about...

I won't believe any news regarding Garrett until I hear it from Jerry's mouth.

I disagree with Garrett how they execute is a reflection of their talent level and concentration. The best coach cannot increase the talent level of a player, he can help to max his strengths and minimize his weakness by putting him in best possible position to succeed but he can't make him execute beyond his talent level.

Drops and missed tackles are because of coaching? Every team practices the same proper tackling techniques, by league order, and every WR coach and OC will coach a receiver to look the ball into his hands and pull it into his body, the same for every WR in the league. They constantly remind them not to run with the ball before they catch it, every one of them.

Ya know the difference between when Garrett played and now when he coaches? Coaches can't do what they did back then, take players out and sit them on the bench for a drop or missed tackle or penalty, they don't have backup and it jeopardizes the team to try and teach the player a lesson. In college, they can still do that.

Do you think that Parcells didn't hammer his OL for false starts, you could see it in his face on the sideline. That was one of things that told him it was time to hang it up. It changed to a players' league some time back and it's not going back to a coach's league. There are not 32 quality players at any position in the NFL.

And Mike Leach might disagree with Garrett. His fat, lazy, entitled stupid players reflected on their coaches better after his call out.
