Cowboys' Jeremy Mincey played season without ability to straighten arm, says pending free agency 'clearly not about the money'

IRVING -- Jeremy Mincey sat in his locker during the Cowboys' clean out day and put his arms out in front of him as a comparison.

His right arm extended several inches shorter than his left.

"This arm ain't been able to straighten out since the offseason," Mincey said.

An elbow injury is the cause of the problem. Mincey is expected to have surgery on it soon, but hasn't scheduled it yet. He is a pending free agent and his stock is trending down after finishing the season without a sack. He said after Sunday's game and reiterated on Monday that he'd like to return to the Cowboys, but isn't sure if it'll be a possibility...

Bring him back. No more money than he will command we will get a grateful player who produced for us in 2014. If he doesn't work out then we move on. Low risk high reward player in my book.

Not sure if a wounded, marginal, 32 year old is worth much at this point. Hope he wasn't given a nickname, because we might be stuck with him in that case.

Sorry you got hurt , but you went the entire season without a sack...........not one dam sack...........time to clean out your locker bro, here is a bus ticket.

You lose a great deal of power when you cannot lock your elbow. A lot of players play hurt like this and we wonder why their play fell off......

I raise this issue a lot and it rarely gets more than a handful of responses. I get people want and you have to have good play injury or not. But generally when this happens it's because the club asks the player to do so. And that's when I get a tad bent about depth at times. Then I see an image of Jerry pop into my head which is unpleasant on a few fronts.

What's the excuse for the first 7 years of his career?

He's a very versatile and slightly above average journeyman. If we have someone better then let him go. If not then keep him another year.

People need to keep in mind that the better the rest of the DL gets the better the rest will look. Once you reach enough pressure across the DL, 1 + 1 no longer equals 2 but more....a synergistic benefit.

I want a rotation up front in the defense, that puts Seattle to shame.

If we take Bosa no need to keep Mincey. ......just saying

Bosa would be a good add...but I want Hardy and Mincey as well.

(laughing to self) There's the old adage: 'Do you know your arse from your elbow?'
