It was started in 1964 when we changed uniforms. My understanding is Tex Schramm wanted the fans to see what the other teams home jersey looked like. He thought it would be more colorful, instead of just seeing teams road jersey, which in most cases were white jerseys and pants. Just a few teams used colored pants like GB, SF and Washington.

Maybe, but I have seen many interviews with Tex, and the theory is that
the heat in Texas Stadium, especially the visiting teams bench being situated the way it is, would be dramatically worse on their dark road uniforms.

That maybe true, but we started it when we were playing at the Cotton Bowl.

Cowboys to wear dreaded blue jerseys

Brace yourself. The Cowboys will be wearing their dreaded blue jerseys Sunday.

With temperatures expected to be in the 80s, the Browns have opted to wear white in the hope that the Cowboys will get tired quicker wearing the darker jerseys.

The Cowboys will also don the blue on Oct. 19 at St. Louis and on Nov. 16 at Washington. On Thanksgiving, it's the throwback jerseys for a game against Seattle.

I thought it was because of the Texas heat, much cooler to wear white.

How sad is it that the Browns are going as far as wearing white to win the game?

They must be very scared and paranoid right now.

I also remember something being said about "good guys always wear white".

The NFL used to require teams to wear white on the road and dark at home. In 1964 they decided to let teams decide. Tex Schramm had the Cowboys switch to white at home. His theory was that every game looked exactly the same. The Cowboys in blue, and the other team in white. Only the helmets and pants changed. Miami and Washington are the only other teams who do this with the exception of Philly, Arizona, and today Cleveland who think forcing Dallas to wear blue will get int heir heads.

I hope they bring back that rule, but reversed like the NBA and MLB. Make a league rule that home teams wear white.

When the Cowboys were established, mgmt thought it would be cool for our fans to be able to see the colors of all the opposing teams.
I think I read that in the book "Tom and the Boys".

It's blatant racism against blue people!
Don't ask me why but this reminds me of Comedian/Ventriloquist Jeff Dunham and Walter. Jeff asks a question, "when you choke a Smurf, what color does he turn?" Walter asks, "Is that what they're calling it these days? What happened to the chicken?"

As i was browsing the browns board, iv'e seen alot of posts saying this was normal for them to wear white at the beginning of the year for the heat. So settle down its normal lol.
