Haven't seen this already, but DC.com reported Cowboys just cut Moore. After signing both Spencer & Marten they needed cut a player to get down to 85 and it was Moore. Per the article Cowboys apparently see more potential in Bartel & Baker.

Wasn't this the guy Jaworski was 'talking-up' on draft day?

Could be a guy that we try to pick up on PS later but this soon into the season, seems pretty unlikely. I guess we'll see.

F.Y.I. His name is Matt Baker

The Cowboys trimmed their roster to 85 players by cutting quarterback Matt Baker between the two practices here Thursday. Baker spent all of last season on the practice squad after signing with the Cowboys in mid-training camp. The club is now down to just four quarterbacks in Tony Romo and Brad Johnson and rookies Richard Bartel and Matt Moore, who will likely compete for the third spot.

no sense having 5 QBs.

Moore got a bit of an SB so he'll be around a while.

Wouldn't surprise me if we went 2 QBs again and had 2 on the PS.

Bye-bye, Baker
The Cowboys had to cut somebody after signing rookies Anthony Spencer and James Marten, and the Turk visited QB Matt Baker.

Baker being cut is a mild surprise. The Cowboys kept him instead of Drew Henson last season, and he was the only third-string option with any NFL experience. He got a $17,000 signing bonus when he signed a two-year extension in May.

The Cowboys are really intrigued with the potential of Richard Bartel, a strong-armed Grapevine product who left SMU to pitch in the Cincinnati Reds' minor league system. He played at Tarleton State after giving up baseball.

Perhaps Jerry felt he had to keep up the tradition of having at least one failed minor leaguer in the QB mix. Bartel is competing with fellow undrafted rookie Matt Moore for the third-string gig.

Sounds like JJ's baseball player mania is rearing its ugly head again.

wasnt there an article last year calling him the next tony romo?

I'm actually glad it was Baker and not Moore. I had high hopes for Moore being a developmental guy. I saw a bit of him at Oregon State.
