I have looked at this kicking issue for the Cowboys for weeks now and feel solving their problem is right under Dan Quinn's nose. Absolutely Dan Quinn is DC and has nothing to do with fixing the Cowboys confidence issues with Greg Zuerline but he might figure in the equation and here's how:

Cut Greg the leg Zuerline

Sign Younghoe Koo, K Atlanta Falcons and my reasoning

1) He's a Free Agent
2) He's Affordable $920,000 in 2021
3) He was 27 out of 29 makes on FG
4) He was 30 out of 30 makes on XP

He kicked for 2 years for Dan Quinn. He's extremely consistent on FG and XP. After looking at kickers and the Cowboys issues this due to consistency and affordability is something that should be looked at closely.

If he is a FA missing only 2 kicks he can demand a few mills. I would rather draft a kicker in the 6/7th or sign a UFA first.

Even if you pay Koo 2 mil his consistency is extremely excellent. The Cowboys have signed ex-SMU kicker Naggar so you don't need to draft one. I'm for a Naggar/Koo battle in training camp and Greg gone.

Sportrac show 11 kickers this up coming season making + 4M and 5 making +3M. It may take more than a couple of Ms.

On one hand, paying, let's say 3 mil, for a kicker is money well spent if he's a big improvement on what you have and we shouldn't be afraid to do it.

On the other hand, a kicker being near perfect one season doesn't guarantee he performs well the next season so why spend anything like 'big' money on one.

I agree, top priority especially if you can save money by cutting Zurlein.

Bringing in a new K and save on the cap here is a no brainer. Because Greg Z has been too inconsistent. Time to move on and take a chance with another. But they need to sign a vet K and bring in a rookie for TC competition as well.

What's the furthest FG Koo has made? Does he have a long distance leg?

We will draft one unless kickers go undrafted. We can get one then on the cheap. All these guys have been kicking the NFL ball for a while now..

Seems like an open and shut case to me. If we go into the season with Zuerelin again, we are beyond stupid and basically forfeiting a couple games this year

Just my opinion, but you get what you pay for. The dude is pretty good. I had your opinion at one point. And it's a good one. But damn our luck. I'm getting sick of pot luck kickers. Koo is pretty reliable.

What's his touchback %.

I will be surprised if we draft one. The last kicker we drafted was David Buehler in 2009, and he was a dud. We did draft Nick Folk two years earlier, but meanwhile, as UDFAs we've found Dan Bailey, Chris Boniol, Richie Cunningham, Lin Elliott, Billy Cundiff ...

The Joneses will see that as a formula for success ... if they even want to bring in real competition for Zuerlein.
