In my opinion this is one of the more important offensive stats (beyond points per drive obviously). Also, least no number of 3rd down attempts.

the obvious reason is we are willing to throw on 1st down if the matchup is favorable,this keeps our 3rd downs yards to go very low.

We are at 20% on the defensive 3rds downs, NE just under 13%.
Now many will claim look at the opponents. So I guess NE's opponents are just weaker than ours.

It's high up there, but turnover differential actually has the highest correlation to wins and losses.

But yeah, if you can keep converting 3rd downs and stop the other guys you are going to win a lot of games.
