I just hope the front office has a better plan than the majority of this board which is

a.) bank on adrian peterson being released around the start of free agency and signing with us for cheap
b.) bank on Ryan Williams+Joseph Randle
c.) bank on Melvin Gordon or Todd Gurley being there at #27

Depends on the price. I would take Spiller than take a draft pick. The RB class in this years draft is deep but I wouldn't waste a first round pick on a RB when defense is still a bigger need.

I said nothing of a 1st rd pick. Just not enamored with Spiller, there is enough evidence out there on him as a RB.

The only FA back not named Murray I would take over Spiller at this point is probably Ryan Matthews. And he's probably staying in San Diego.

This board has officially lost its mind. Some here are criticizing Murray for his fumbles and injury history and now we're going to pick up the most fumble-prone, injury riddled RB out there?

8 fumbles in a little over 4 years. Also has 4k yards. Not great but not horrible either.

If the Cowboys have to look to free agency to replace Murray all of them will be flawed either due to injuries, fumbling issues or a lack of production. If Murray is lost I believe the Cowboys are going to have to come up with a 2 back system and try and make up for his production. They're going to need a big back who can move piles and pick up the tough yards and a quick change of pace runner.

This screams Felix Jones....that's who he reminds me of....

while CJ Spiller is no DM he is no Felix either. CJ at least produced be it in a RBBC but he produced unlike Felix.

Why would we want an injury plagued RB like Matthews when we already have Ryan Williams on the roster?

Ill take D29 over Ryan Matthews, Pineapple thief, and a guy who was on our practice squad last year any day of the week.....

edit.... i like spiller, but he is far from a back who can carry the load....
there is a reason fred jackson is still starting... (or at least, was..)

We should just draft a RB(maybe 2) and put our FA money on Defense.

If we draft a back, it better be the best in the draft... that's gordon (because gurley is hurt)...... drafting a fumble prone abdullah, a slower coleman(at least to my eyes)... is a bit of a risk for a team trying to win it all who depend on the running game...

edit: the only second day back i personally have confidence in is duke.. and i watched the game in which he broke his ankle a season ago.

I'd much rather have someone like Justin Forsett. Underrated. Averaged over 5 a carry the last 3 years. Has played 16 games 4 of 5 years. Seems like a team guy and tough

Wow, horrible. Guy can't run between the tackles and has averaged something like 10 carries per game. Maybe an upgrade over Dunbar, but that's it. At least go after an all-around back like Ryan Mathews.
