Cowboys Like the Best Players

I have noticed the Cowboys like to draft the top graded player at a position from the things the Cowboys have said and done. So with that in mind, here are the top projected players at each position:

QB-Jameis Winston
RB-Todd Gurley
WR- Amari Cooper
TE- Maxx Williams
OT-Brandon Sherff
OG-AJ Cann
C-Reese Dismukes

DE- Randy Gregory
DT- Leonard Williams
OLB (traditional)- Shaq Williams
ILB- Eric Kendricks
CB-Trae Waynes
S- Landon Collins

A lot of people consider Scherff's best position guard. I'm sure there are some people who consider Rollins a better prospect than Waynes. He's the best senior CB. Shaq Thompson is a better athlete but I don't think he's a better LB than Dawson. Collins may be a guard and if so graded higher than Scherff.

Think maybe with the scare Dallas got there you could throw in Hundley since he's rated around that area. I know he wouldnt be the top rated QB but at that point he would be the highest rated QB left. And the scare Dallas got when Romo went down im sure had Jerry nervous.

Cant see them going after a TE
Cann, again cant see them going there with Leary and Martin
Kendricks, only way i see them going here is if McClain is not resigned, but even then have Lee.
Collins, noway same S as Church and Wilcox.

I think the Cowboys like to draft the top players on THEIR rankings (like most teams do)...which for sure is not necessarily the same as other rankings.

It'll be tough to do picking at 27. You might get the best C or possibly G, probably not anything else. RB could be a possibility.

Just take the BPA at your pick. If you have a cluster of similarly ranked players, then you consider roster makeup.

Gurley and Melvin are probably a tie. Like Dez he will fall but DGB is the most talented WR in his class. Willaims is best 3Tech and Shelton is best 1Tech. I would rank Nic Beasley over Shaq Thompson (who is also projected to SS and RB). Most likely ILB taken in 1st is McKinney. And Scherff is projected to OG at next level.

Williams would be my #1 pick in this draft, so we agree there. But Shelton would be beast in Marinelli's system. Not only rock in the middle and ultra athletic for his size, he has that non-stop motor that Marinelli loves. Just adding more options to your scenario.
